these were to die for. i cooked them on the stove top and omitted the vinegar. i used stew meat instead of the chops, b/c it's what i had on hand. i added LOTS of crushed red pepper to the apples, cause we like it spicy. also used shredded cheese instead of the slices.

This turned out very well, even though I did it all in a skillet. Next time I may try adding a tsp of brandy while cooking the onions and apples.

These were the best pork chops we ever had. Just used apple cider vinegar instead of balsamic vinegar. Instead of the pepper flakes my husband added, for the kids, garlic salt and pepper on the pork chops. Mrs.Dash Southwest Chipotle is an excellent substitute for the pepper flakes. We used that for ourselves. We would have never known the mix of apples, vinegar, onions, and cheese could be so delicious. Our youngest, who is very picky, even loved it. Thank-you for the excellent recipe.

Im always willing to try a recipe once. I will be trying this one many more times. I was unsure of putting cheese on top, but it brought it all together and made my wife and three kids smile at dinner time. Thanks for the great recipe!

This was very good but I changed up a few things. First of all I didn't have time or weather to fire up the grill and wanted a easy clean up dish so I added all the ingredients (minus the cheese) to a pan on stovetop. Browned the chops and then baked in the oven and it came out great! Next time will try grill though... maybe that will push me to a five star dish!

my boyfriend made this for me last night, and it was awesome. seriously great. i would of never chose to make it, becasue it says cheesy, and even though i love cheese, didnt think it would like it on pork chops. you dont need alot of cheese. and the apples give it a nice fresh taste. made with a salad and perogies. YUM

YUM!!! I left out the pepper flakes(maybe next time). After I grilled the chops, I brought them inside on a cookie sheet and put the apple mixture/cheese on the chops. I popped them in the oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese. Less mess than trying to top them on the grill.

I use a more exciting cheese, but this dish is so easy and so delicious. (Especially when you don't overcook the pork chops like I did the first time I made it.)

I found it very greasy. If I make it again, I would reduce the butter. I would recommend making irish cabbage.

I don't have red pepper flake and I use white vinegar. Still very good, the pork chop is very juicy. Made my husband say Yumyum!

We liked this recipe; it was easy, fast, and special! We cooked 2 Hormel loin chops which were almost 1 1/2" think, and grilled them about 12-14 minutes. I did substiture Sweeta for the sugar to lower carbs.

This was excellent! I used 2 apples and doubled the sugar & balsamic vinegar. Next time, I may use a different cheese. As much as I love sharp cheddar, I felt like the flavor overpowered the other ingredients.

This was a nice change of pace for pork chops. I didn't have any balsamic vinegar, so I used our "balsamic vinegarette" salad dressing instead and it worked quite well. This would be a nice and fairly simple dish for company.

I loved this recipe! My husband thought the vinegar was too strong but he likes things bland anyway, and I also marinated the pork in some balsamic vinegar for about 30 minutes before cooking too. Tossed on the grill, these chops were easy and delicious! And really nice looking too, I'd use it for guests even.

This was soooo good and so easy. Followed the recipe exactly except I cooked 3 chops instead of 4 and the toppings on the three chops were great. If I were cooking 4 chops I might make a bit extra of the onions, apples and cheese. Thanks submitter.

Excellent! I used extra thick-cut chops, browning the meat for 5 min. on each side in a non-stick pan. Then, I simmered the chops in 2/3 c. dry sherry until done. To finish, I put the apple mixture and cheese on the chops under the broiler until the cheese melted. The pork was sooo tender. The only thing I will change the next time I make this-and there will definitely be a next time-is to double the apple mixture. This recipe is a winner!
