I'm a tinker-er, I can't help myself. My family wouldn't touch a poppy seed! I substituted bacon bits (real bacon - not the fake stuff) I also used mini-loaf pans to cut down on the cooking time for summer.... great stuff!

This bread was very good. The texture was a bit cake-like, but to my mind that just made it more interesting. The poppy seeds were a wonderful touch. I used bacon grease instead of olive oil to saute the onions and used a bit more cheese than called for. My husband and I both loved it.

WOW... I made this with NO(low fat) ingredients, Used one poster's suggestion, & added more onion. I also melted about a 1/2C butter & poured on top of the shredded cheese. This bread was wonderful, gone before we could even eat the soup!

This was ok but nothing outstanding. I made it with regular Bisquick and full-fat cheese. It had a rather cakey texture which didn't thrill me. Very easy though!

I didn't have biscuit mix so substituted with 1 1/2 cups flour, 3 teaspoons baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt. The result was an easy made bread but fairly dry. I ended up slicing it, butter the slices and toast under a broiler before serving it to my guests. They liked it but could barely taste the onion. I will probably bake this bread again because it was easy to prepare but double the onion and sauté not only tender but brown a little bit.
