This is very good! Turned out great, served it with cheesy garlic bread.

This was absolutely fantastic! I would recommend doubling the amount of tortellini that is called for. We had a lot of left over sauce. I will definitely be making this again!

If I could give this more stars I certainly would. I don't usually add the hamburger, just go with the sausage. I don't know why this combination is so good...it just is!!

This dish gets 5 stars for easy preparation, but 4 stars for taste. My husband and I thought it was good, and my 13 year old son loved it. Very very easy to prepare. Add a salad and bread and you're set to go. I really don't think this needs to cook anywhere close to 7 hours though.

I didn't like this at all. I see no reason for the slow cooker. The sauce was very thick and dry, it was a waste of tortellini. Sorry.

A great start for sure! I had to tweak the recipe to account for our personal preferences--I skipped the ground sausage and opted to place a package of whole, hot Italian sausages into the sauce. I also added seasonings including Italian seasoning, ground black pepper and onion/garlic powders. I chopped a couple of cloves of garlic and a small onion and added them to the 1/2lb of lean ground beef while browning. I ended up missing dinner that night, so my husband just dug into the sauce and made his own side of pasta; I didn't have a chance to add the tortellini or cheese to the crock pot. The next day, for leftovers, I boiled the tortellini (spinach/cheese variety) as directed and placed it, along with the leftover sauce and sausage, into a baking dish. I covered the top liberally with shredded mozzerella and grated parmesan cheeses and baked it at 400 degrees for around 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly. Wow, it was out of this world! I think from now on, I will make this in the crockpot without the tortellini and just have a good sauce with pasta the first night and then transform the leftovers into a quick, delicious baked treat. Although I traveled far from the original recipe as written, I thank the poster for a wonderful base recipe!

I'm a beginner at cooking new dishes and I don't have an opinion on sausage yet so I did the meat as directed. I did bake as other reviewers recommended because I didnt have time for slow cooking. I omitted the mushrooms and tomatoes and addeded 6 more ounces of Marinara sause (only because we don't like chunks of tomatoes and we are not fans of mushrooms throughout a dish). I didn't use the cheddar just because I didn't have any. This dish turned out delicious. A little dryer than its supposed to be but the tortellini was tender, and the flavor of the dish was great! Next time I will probably add more sauce.

Very good! Instead of putting it in the crockpot, I baked it in the oven.

This was good and very easy to make. I gave 3 stars because the sauce almost burned. I left it overnight in the slow cooker, 7hrs on low, and it was dry and starting to burn on the sides. I was able to save it thought. I also decided to add garlic and italian seasonings to meat because it was coming out on the bland side. Other than that, it was good. I will make this again with a few adjustments.

Great sauce, could use it on any pasta dish. I didn't measure the cheese and it came out too cheesy :-( I'll for sure make this again (and measure!).

4-stars BUT I will definitely make this again. It is easy and very tasty and uses just a few ingredients that I always have on hand. What's not to like?! I definitely recommend trying this one.

I found this recipe when looking for something to do with my extra/unused shredded mozzerella and chedder cheeses. It turned out to be a total HIT with my meat-loving husband and a great time-saving meal for me. I browned / seasoned the beef the night before and just turned the slow cooker on in the morning when I left for work. It smelled fantastic when I got home! While I agree that it's not "gourmet" or "real Italian" pasta, it very nicely satisfied our hunger on a weeknight and felt like a good, homecooked meal that didn't require a ton of work! I also agree that the tortellini are a bit "wasted" on such a thick/heavy sauce, but I wasn't going for anything fancy. Just wanted to use up the cheese! The real testimonial is that I've already made it twice and plan to make it again. I added 1 tsp brown sugar, per the other reviews, and only used italian sausage (did not have ground beef), but otherwise followed the recipe.

This gets 3 stars because the kids liked it, even if the adult reaction would have made it a 1 or 2 star. This is the kind of recipe that appeals to the "Hamburger Helper" and "Kraft Mac & Cheese" palette and I imagine most of the high ratings have to come from such folk. That said, as an Italian food loving adult who lived in Italy for many years, this recipe struck me as a waste of good fresh tortellini. The first time I tried this I made my own marinara sauce and used fresh mushrooms, but otherwise stuck to the recipe. The result was disappointing. The second time I followed the recipe to the letter and felt like I was eating sloppy-joe-coated tortellini. This is a thumbs down for me, though I'm sure is great for people with different taste.

I made this dish tonight for dinner and served it with a garden salad. I used all ground beef but will try the next time with the sausage. I added green peppers as well. Absolutely delicious and will be made again and again. No more need to go out for good italian food when it can be made like this recipe. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
