Very kid-friendly, I think. It was ok; not too bland. I used ground turkey, because I don't do beef, and I only had ground onion powder, and subbed chicken tomato bouillon because that was all I had as well. Oh and only garlic powder too. My kids don't always like the textures of onions & garlic, so I wouldn't use in most dishes for them anyways. They really loved it. I thought it was ok, along with dh, so we will probably make again for them. Thank you!

A very traditional sort of casserole. Loved that I didn't have to use instant rice or precook the rice. Also loved that I could do it all in my cast-iron skillet -- easy clean up! Used regular onion instead of dehydrated, and lots of garlic, so it was absolutely not bland. We all loved it, though we don't usually eat casseroles :)

My family really enjoyed this. I thought the rice turned out perfect (sometimes a tricky task). I changes the recipe a bit and used ground Italian sausage and beef broth. I omitted the carrots as have picky kids and hubby.

It is easy to make and filling, just missing something... it was very blah! It tasted more like a filling for cabbage rolls and was in need of something...don't know what. I even added tomatoe sauce and extra cheese per another review.

Very adaptable!! I took the basis of this recipe and put a bit of a spin on it. I SKIPPED the CARROTS, DRIED PARSLEY, and DRIED ONION. I added chopped WHITE ONION to the rice-browning process along with the garlic, then added steamed BROCCOLI, MUSHROOMS, BASIL and BOUILLON. Rather than 3 cups water, I added 2 cups and 1 cup of TOMATO SAUCE. Next time I would add more tomato sauce and simmer longer because the rice I used was not completely done. I mixed in about 1/2 cup CHEESE, covered and baked for 30 minutes only, turning twice and topping with cheese as directed for the remaining 5 minutes. It was CONSUMED by 3 picky kids and 2 adults. The kids said it was better than pasta (the only thing they ask for!) and had enough flavor for the adults. :)

We gave it 4 stars but made a few adjustments. I spiced up the beef with Rocky Mountain Steak Spice (lots of it) and doubled the cheese. It was pretty tasty but will tweek it a bit more next time. It turned out a bit dry, but I didn't have any carrots on hand. Maybe veggies make a big difference...

I made this and my kids, dacare kids, sister in laws, and husband ate both batches, they all loved it!!! Me too!! Also you add extra cheese on top and use a season salt of some kind on the hamburger, I always use adobo season salt, in place of salt to taste as in any recipe!! Very quick and easy recipe to make also!!
