Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter a 9x12-inch baking dish.
  2. Bring milk, water, and salt to a boil in a large saucepan; gradually sprinkle grits into the boiling liquid, stirring to combine. Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir processed cheese, sharp Cheddar cheese, butter, and garlic powder into grits, stirring until cheese has melted. Let the mixture stand until cooled, about 15 minutes. Stir beaten eggs into grits; transfer to prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until the top is lightly golden brown and the grits are set, about 45 minutes.

Loved this recipe. Awesome comfort food. The only thing I did different was to add more garlic since we are garlic lovers.

This recipe has been in my family for years. It always disappears! My grandmother always served it with roast beef, fresh green beans or home canned green beans and homemade rolls. Comfort food at it's best.

We have always added meat ( cooked cubed chicken, crisp bacon, or cubed ham ). But this recipe as it stands is great. Unfortunately, there is never any leftovers. Dang!

Kind of bland, I love cheese however, there seems to be more cheese than grits. Not my favorite, but didn't hate it
