I substitute powdered soy milk and Splenda and the tea tastes just as good as the original recipe with more protein and fewer calories. This is a wonderful recipe!

fantastic recipe! i personally think the cardamom makes the chai tea. love the smell of it. i used lite coffee creamer and sugar free french vanilla coffee creamer then used all the sugar the recipe asked for. still very good! next time i will try decreasing the sugar by 1/2 cup. great idea to grind it in a coffee bean grinder. i will be giving this for gifts this fall along with the iced pumpkin cookies from this website!! YUM YUM YUM. thank you!

Sooo very good on a cold day.. I used 2 cups powdered sugar.. left out the powdered milk. Sifted all the ings. I did not use the instant tea. Just added the 2 heaping tbs to my favorite hot tea. I used the powered sugar becaues I was on the hunt for the archer farms chai tea cookies, I think just out of the oven tea cookies rolled in this mixture would be Great !! I will let you know...

Yummy! I altered the recipe to my taste (using decaf tea and half the amount of sugar and cloves) and even though I forgot to buy the cardamom I couldn't be happier with this tea!

I've made this recipe several times. It is a little too sweet for me, so I decreased the sugar to 2 cups. Perfect!

YUM YUM YUM!!!!! I had to "Canadianize" this recipe because we Canuck's don't drink unsweetened instant tea for some strange reason. I love chai latte's from Starbucks but I always find them sweet, even when I tell them to not make it too sweet, because I love my tea/coffee nice and bitter. I was really excited to find this recipe because I could make it without the gobs of sugar in those expensive drinks. So here's my slight modifications: (1) spiced it up with the extra spices suggested. (2) added an extra teaspoon of cardamom, because ITS SUPER CHEAP FROM THE BULK FOOD STORE. (3) added french vanilla coffee mate, which I realized had added sugar when I got home so, (4) left out the sugar entirely. It's rich and creamy with a very small hint of sweetness from the flavoured coffee mate. I figured that my boyfriend can always add the extra sugar to his taste. (5) and finally as we don't have unsweetened instant tea I just stuck the bag in the mug. HONESTLY THE BEST CHAI TEA I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Thanks!

I made this with no sugar and 1/3 cup Trader Joe's stevia powder instead, and it was great - I couldn't tell it didn't have real sugar. I also used 2 cups milk powder to 1 cup non-dairy creamer, and that was plenty tasty too. FYI - cardamom is cheap at International & Asian groceries, around $2, as compared to those INSANE chain grocery prices.

This is wonderful!! I make it for Christmas gifts, and my whole family hounds me all year round for more. The only change is I cut the sugar in half. It is just too sweet for some, and individuals can always add more if they want it sweeter.

Love it! Love it! Cardamom is really expensive, so I added nutmeg, and will try other variations next time. I'm definitely thinking of making this for all our friends at Christmas time! Makes a GREAT smoothie, too!

What a wonderful recipe. I went a bit less on the sugar, but still sweet enough. Didn't add as much cardamom, but the smell and taste were still there. This is a great recipe for the home Chai tea drinkers and for gifts as well. I made copies and will keep this one in the recipe book under **favorites** Enjoy you Chai!!

Great recipe. I made it just like the recipe says. This is my first time trying Chai Tea. I love this stuff and I hate tea. At least I did until now. I made some for my mother and left out the cinnamon because she can't drink it and even that was good. I am going to keep this mix on hand. Thanks for the great recipe.

This recipe probably does not need one more 5-star rating, but it really deserves it! I made this and gave it to many people for Christmas. Almost everyone asked for the recipe. I changed it a little, based on recommendations from others. I decreased the sugar to 1 1/2 cups, and added 1/2 tsp. ground white pepper. Once I made it with the 1 cup non dairy creamer and 1 cup French vanilla non dairy creamer, and once I made it omitting the regular nondairy creamer and instead, I added 2 cups of the French vanilla nondairy creamer. Both were good. I will use the 2 cups vanilla creamer again next time so I don't have to buy so many items. The vanilla was not overpowering.

This was good, but not great. Next time, I might increase the spices because this really tasted more like powdered milk than spice. That's what's great about a mix, you can just add to your taste specifications. It's a good base recipe.

Yummy. I made it as is, except instead of adding the instant tea to the mix, I brewed the tea separately. Sorry, I just don't like the taste of instant tea. Then I added the creamer & spice mix to the tea. I used about 2 T. for a large mug.
