I was looking for an alternative to regular burgers and i had a ton of carrots from the farmers market, so i thought i'd try this. It was great!I shredded thae carrot and celery, as suggested. We didn't have cornflakes so i decided to use a mixture of breadcrumbs and bran. After mixing half of it in i remembered that we had lays sour cream and onoin chips, so i crushed them up and added them. I also added shredded bell pepper and som season salt. Everyone loved them! Some reviewers used celery seed instead of the real thing, but i found that celery gave it a distinct flavor that went well with the carrot, don't make the substitution. If you want to grill these like (or with) regular burgers, put a sheet of foil over the grill and cook them on it for twice as long on each side.

Yum! I made the "kid-friendly" modifications for my hubby: used onion powder and celery seed instead of fresh onions and celery. I also chopped the carrots into tiny pieces instead of dicing. I topped it with muenster cheese and ketchup, and served it on a whole wheat bun. I wasn't too hungry so I just prepared a burger for him. But while I was waiting for him to come down for dinner, I ended up eating half of his burger because it was so good. My meat loving husband finished the other half and I had to make another whole one for him. This was the first veggie burger my picky husband has ever ate, and he said he would eat it again.

Yum! These were great. I made them exactly as the recipe was written. The mixture seemed like it would be too moist to form a patty which would hold its shape, and I did have to handle the patties really delicately until they were cooked, but once they were cooked they were fine. I served them like regular burgers on a bun with mustard, mayo, ketchup, tomato and cheese. The patties were wonderfully moist and every bit as good as a meat patty in my opinion. Next I'll have to try them on my carnivore husband and fussy son.

So, so, SO DELICIOUS! I eat alot of "Morningstar Farms" veggie burgers, and these are SO MUCH BETTER. I served them on buns with mayo and some American cheese melted on top. The whole family loved them (even my meat-eating hubby). =D

These were just okay. I looked for tips on improving them, but the taste was nothing special. I make the Zucchini "Crab" Cakes from this site, and truly, this recipe tastes like that one, but without the old bay. On the bright side, I realize when you shred the carrots, you don't have to boil them ahead of time. Also, I think I'll toss some carrots into the Zucchini recipe. They blend in nicely with other flavors. The real trouble with this was the patties didn't stick together, despite making them ahead of time. Definitely add some bread crumbs. Thanks for the recipe though!

These came out better than I expected. I did make some modifications. I shredded the carrots and did not cook them first. I did not have celery on hand so I shredded zucchini in its place. Used a bit more onion, omitted the sugar, and replaced the cornflakes with 1 1/2 c oats. No problem with binding and very simple. Yummy and crunchy!

I found this to be a great "veggie burger in a hurry" recipe- but I did need to alter it so that it made sense to me as a meal option. I added a can of lentiils and 350 grams of extra firm tofu for protein, and then going the savoury route, I nixed the sugar in favour of thyme, parsley and chopped chives. All of those changes just reflect my preferences, of course- this mix as it is would be a good base for your own additions and subtractions. However you make it, do taste the mix before adding the egg-- you may find as I did that you'd like extra salt and pepper.

Tried these last night & really enjoyed them! Very, very easy. I hand grated the carrots, celery & onion. Mixed them together and microwaved for several minutes without adding any liquid. Used oatmeal in place of cornflakes - let mixture sit for a bit before forming patties. Will definitely make again! I put a couple of patties in the freezer after cooking to see how they will work as a last minute fast meal.

These burgers are amazing! Great taste and texture, just as good warm or cold. I shredded the carrots as per other reviews and they hold together perfectly. I also used cilantro instead of celery. Next time, I'll try to use something healthier than corn flakes, though.

My kids and husbund loved these burgers! I was a little hesitant to try them but after reading the reviews decided to give it a go. It is a quick and easy recipe that my 4 year old helped with up until the frying. The only change I made was that I shredded the carrots instead of cutting them small and they stayed together nicely when formed. This will definitely be an addition to our dinner menu as I am used to buying prepackaged veggie burgers and these are much yummier and way cheaper. Thanks for the recipe!

These are amazing! I have two batches out of the pan, haven't even finished cooking them all, and have already started picking at the already cooked ones and CAN NOT wait to eat. I did have a problem with my mixture being a little runny/soggy, so I added in a few handfuls of crushed saltine crackers and that really helped a lot. Next time I make these I will just skip the cornflakes and go straight for the saltines like I do with salmon and tuna patties. Thanks for the recipe!

So right now I'm going to give this a 4. I may have to change it to a 5 when I try it again...I hope so! I didn't have celery so I just took it out, which I have a feeling was a big mistake. I'm not a big celery fan though, so we'll see. I also only had Kellogg's crumbs. They were really good, but missing something. I'm not sure if the celery taste, for me, will make it a 5. I bought it anyway though, and real corn flakes, this time. Will make again soon!

SOO yummy! A very good recipe, although I would recommend shredding the carrots instead of dicing them. The first time i made them I diced them, and they held together fairly well, but the second time I shredded them and they held together wonderfully! I love the crunchiness and the flavor is wonderful! Plus, you can't beat how inexpensive they are to make!!

I was a bit reluctant to try this recipe becuase I know carrots can be sweet but I am glad I did! They are delicious! I didn't add the sugar, I didn't think it wasn't necessary. I also left out the pepper since we don't use it. I followed the rest of the recipe exactly. I had trouble forming the patties at the beginning but then solved that by wetting one hand before forming each patty.

The taste was just okay- it was pretty sweet from the carrots. I used a combination of corn meal and oats because I didn't have cornflakes, but I did have problems getting it to stick together. I added some mushrooms and sauteed them in olive oil with garlic, onions and parsley. I'd add some barbeque sauce next time. The second day the burgers firmed up and had a great texture.

I could not get these suckers to stick as a patty! I had to throw an extra two eggs into the mixture, resulting in more of an omelette than a burger. Still, they tasted pretty decent on a bun with ketchup – but next time I’ll dribble in some barbecue sauce or something, since the burger lacks a kick of its own.

I liked them; my husband did not. They become more 'burger-like' as leftovers because they have the chance to firm up in the refrigerator. Because of this, I recommend making them ahead of time and then reheating gently.

Excellent recipe! I've been searching for a veggie-type burger recipe and decided to try this one. My family, kids included, loved them, served on a bun. I chose to mash the carrots after boiling them and instead of cornflakes I used a combination of seasoned breadcrumbs and rolled oats (both ideas thanks to other reviewers). I also used a red onion for lots of sweet flavor. Will definitely make again.

I gotta say, we are meat eaters (my hubby & I), and have trouble considering things a meal unless there is SOME kind of meat, but I'm trying to healthy us up a bit. So I thought after all the great reviews I'd give this a try...with a few personal substitutions....SO, I used Corn Chex instead of Corn Flakes, (I had them left over from 4th of July party mix). And We prefer savory over sweet in most dishes, so instead of the sugar, I used an equal amount of marjoram. These were so great, we will defiantly add them to regular dishes!!!! My Hubby said they remind him of crab cakes. I'm so glad I found this recipe, and hope ya don't mind if I pass it along!
