WOW!! This is the best caramel corn that I have ever tasted. The flavor was buttery and sweet and the texture was at first a light crisp but ended up melting in your mouth! I followed the advice to put the popcorn in the oven for a little bit before adding the caramel.

Yum! I am on my third batch. I halved the butter as many suggested. I used Orville Redenbacher's Natural Simply Salted microwave popcorn and kept it warm in the oven until time to coat. I used a large brown bag to distribute the caramel all over the popcorn before baking. It baked for about 45 minutes to just the right consistency of crunchy/chewiness. After allowing the popcorn to cool I distributed it into 2 pound decorative plastic containers and drizzled it with dark chocolate. The perfect gift for co-workers. I attached the recipe as a gift tag. Cute.

Just like my mom use to make. All the other reviews were very helpful. 1/2 the butter, use a roasting pan, keep the popcorn warm before mixing and greese the pan.

This is the same recipe my Mom and Grandmother have always used, except we use 6 qts of popcorn. I always use airpopped popcorn because it pops up big and fluffy and tastes better. We boil the caramel for 5 mins instead of 4. My Mom does the entire hour, but I like it after 45 mins. Great to give away for the holidays (if there is any left!)

This recipe is excellent. I doubled it and used 6 bags of microwave "homestyle" popcorn. It was the perfect ratio of syrup to popcorn. Also, I add a little almond extract to pretty much any butter candy recipe...gives it a little something different! :0)

I love the recipe I did use 1/2 the butter and sure enough it's plenty. I added extra salt; a chef at a fancy winery in the Sonoma Valley gave me that hot tip in making caramel corn. Also only baked mine 20mins (by my moms advise). Perfect!

This is an excellent recipe, it worked out perfectly but I also warmed to popcorn in the oven for a few minutes, it helps when mixing the caramel. And I also added butter toffee peanuts to mine, it was delicious...

Great recipe, I made two batches in the same day because it is so good we wanted to give some to friends :) We used canadian mapple syrup instead of corn syrup and I must admit it is great!! We used dark brown sugar so it didn't turn out very sticky but it still tasted awesome!! This recipe might be as good as my grand mother's :)

This is the same caramel corn recipe I've been finding everywhere. I'm using it, it's great, but it's a shame the author couldn't do us the favor of using CUPS consistently throughout the measurements, rather than switching to QUARTS and sending us on a conversion-hunt.

I did as others suggested and cut the amount of butter in half. Also, I used 2 bags of Orville Redenbacher's movie theater butter popcorn. The caramel was a little tough to work with at first, but in the end the popcorn turned out great!

Yum!!!! I didn't even think it was possible to make caramel corn, so when I saw the recipe I couldn't wait to make it! Party guests loved it! Took the advice from others and scaled down the butter to 1 stick and followed the microwave directions. What a breeze. One thing to be aware of... make sure you don't use a ceramic bowl to microwave in as it burned the heck out of my hands. The paper bag idea and lining the baking sheet was genius. No fuss no muss!

this recipe is awesome! everyone always raves! I do cut the butter by half and it works just as well. I always free up the popcorn before I let it cool otherwise it sticks to the sides and the fragile popcorn breaks.

This was a great recipe to start with, but I tried some of the other reviewers suggestions. The first batch I just cut the butter in half. Then the sugar was too much, but still tasted good. The next day and batch #2 I cut the butter and sugar in half and left everything else the same, and we have the perfect caramel corn now. I did used my air popper to make the popcorn. Thank you!
