I really liked this recipe- it has great flavor and the potential for many varieties. I made a few changes: omit the salt- the nuts give it enough saltiness. Replace corn syrup with 1/3 C honey (this alone will save you 440 calories per recipe!). You can use a butter substitute like smart balance and you only need about 3 tablespoons. I didn't have any peanuts but I don't think I would have added them anyways due to their fat content. Instead I added 3/4 C banana chips. Also, if you want to add dried fruit I suggest adding it after the baking process because it will make them tough and they will stick to your teeth.

Great way to use up a box of Cheerios! I substituted honey for corn syrup and it was too soft, so I had to put it in the oven on a low temp for a while to crisp it up. I didn't have enough nuts so I added raisins and it's great! I also added some cinnamon and nutmeg because I love spices :).

I have an over abundance of Cheerios to use up and this recipe is just perfect. It's easy to make and is similar to a popcorn/caramel product such as fiddle faddle (in texture and taste). It comes out crunchy and nutty and I'd say it's perfect for parties, brunch or just for munching.

I made a very similar recipe and it was amazing. I didn't use corn syrup, pecans or peanuts. I melted the butter and brown sugar together and added a little vegetable oil. Then I added Cheerios®, raw chopped almonds and walnuts. I poured the mixture onto a plate and sprinkled salt and cinnamon on top. It was pure perfection!

Instead of using Cheerios, I have used Oh's Cereal, it is the best! Also have substituted peanuts for the almonds. Yum!

I don't really see what is so special about this recipe. The Cheerios just tasted like Honey Nut flavor, and the nuts were just a little bit sweet. I guess I would like it with more of a 'POP!' in flavor. I will keep searching for that recipe.

This recipe is absolutely fabulous exactly as it is written. I made it several times over Christmas to take to various functions, and it was always a big hit. One note: With one of the batches, I was low on Cheerios (had about 2 cups) but I had plenty of Corn Chex left over, so I used 1/2 Cheerios, 1/2 Chex... and while it did work, it just didn't taste as good to us as the original. Thanks for such a great recipe!!

This is an excellent snack or gift for teacher, friends and family! To kick it up a notch, I used pop-corn instead of cheerios and any nut combination works. I used salted cashews and added a 1/2 tsp. of vanilla to the syrup at the end. Yum, Yum!!!! Everybody wants to recipe!!

I found this recipe at Christmas time, I made some up and took it to work and they went crazy over it. I gave it to a lady I work with, when she made it she put in a bag of Wal-Mart store brand dried cranberries, WOW!!!! this put a sweet taste to it. I bet I have made 10 more recipes of this since Christmas. 5*****!!!

This was OK, but I think I would have liked it better if the mixture had stayed in clumps ala caramel corn rather than separating...maybe it would work to increase the syrup/mix ratio?
