This was a great pie. I used fresh apples from a friends tree. It earned rave reviews at a recent dinner party. The apples turned out just perfectly tender, not too mushy. I didn't change a thing and I didn't find it runny. My only complaint was I found the topping not crunch enough.

I loved this recipe. I didn't follow it exactly though. I noticed in the other reviews about it being runny. I didn't have that problem, but I used about 2 tbsp. of cream with the caramels. That way it was less saucy, and more caramel goodness. I made two pies for Thanksgiving and it was eaten up in about 2 seconds, the other that i gave to the in laws also recieved rave reviews. I've now made it twice, and my husband and daughters shovel it in. GREAT pie!

I thought it was a little runny inside, so I would probably reduce the amount of evaporated milk next time. Everyone loved it at Thanksgiving last year so it will make an appearance again this year for sure!

this apple pie is very very good my boifriend is a apple pie fanatic and loved this pie i used granny smith apples but everytime i bake it is so juicy and runny and falls apart when i serve it i really dont know how to exactly drain a pie but when the pie is half way through it just looks like it went bad because it was so runny

I originally rated this poorly, but I decided that the pie gets much better after a bit of a sit. I had to pour a large amount of liquid off of the pie before adding the caramel sauce, and the sauce was very runny, but after letting the pie sit for a while and reheating in the microwave, it set a little and was very tasty. Straight out of the oven, it's a bit of a mess.

This pie sounded so good and had many great reviews. I made it exactly as written, using McIntosh apples, but the finished product was very runny. I ended up draining off a lot of liquid before topping the pie with caramel and crunch, and it was still very runny and ultimately fell apart when I served it. The flavor was terrific, but the appearance and texture left much to be desired.

This is a great pie, I added Oats to the topping mix and made a little extra for the pie. I also added when finished sugar pecans from "pecan snack" recipe. WOW, what great touch. I will use this recipe over and over again.

I didn't really love this pie. The crunch/caramel was good and the pie was good....but together the layers just didn't work for me. I found myself eating the top caramel/crunch layer separate from the apple pie. I don't think I will make this one again. Rosa

Very tasty! I was looking for something like Perkins Restaurant serves and this was it. My apples were pretty juicy, so I had to drain the pie after baking, but before adding the carmel and topping. :) Also, instead of the carmels and evaporated milk, I just poured a jar of carmel ice cream topping over the top since it was easier. I will surely make this again, everyone loved it.

My husband is a pie fanatic, so I make pies for him all the time. This one was still sitting around after a week, which never happens...he usually eats them in a day or two. Anyway, he liked this one, but not as much as regular apple pie.
