I made some changes, I used half&half, 3% milk, and heavy whipping cream, instead of whole milk and heavy whipping cream. I also heated the caramel to 240, like a review said. It didn't harden!! I left it there for a week, and when I finally gave up, and now it is still sitting in my fridge, just waiting to be poured over ice cream. I give this 1 star because it makes a very good topping. Next time I will follow the recipe EXACTLY! I hope this is helpful.
