My husband and I really enjoyed this dish. It was slightly sweet without being overly so. It was easy enough for my husband to make (he is not a cook), while I supervised (I wasn't feeling too well). I only gave it 4 stars because, although all three of my children ate it- none of them enjoyed it. They requested that I not make it again. The only complaints they could verbalize was that it was a. too sweet, or b. the sauce didn't stick to the meat and flavor it enough. That said- I added it to my recipe box and it will make more appearances at our dinner table.

My husband and I made this and it was amazing! Forget the turkey for thanksgiving this year, we're having this! The only thing we added while cooking the pork and the sauce was an apple wine from a local winery. YUM!

DELICIOUS! The only reason it gets four stars is because I didn't follow the recipe exactly. I browned my chops and then put them in an orange juice/soy/worcestershire mixture and baked uncovered on 350 while I made the sauce. I doubled up on everything except apples, as suggested by others. When I put the chops in the sauce I added a bit of the cooking juice. So good, even my VERY picky child gobbled it up!

Very good but could use a bit more body. Adding a bit of onion to the apples and a pinch of Chipotle really completes this dish!

I cooked mine in the oven rather than deal with the stove top. I made the apples as the recipe calls for. Placed chops in a greased pan and put the apples on top of the pork with a little of the sauce and baked at 350 for about 30 minutes until the chops were done. I then finished cooking the sauce as the recipe calls for and topped the cooked chops with the sauce and pecans. Serve with some squash and it's WONDERFUL!!

This was relatively easy and really good. The perfect balance of salty and sweet! My husband and 2 year old both ate it all up. I used slightly thicker chops and added some powdered ginger to the sugar/cinnamon/nutmeg/salt/pepper. Serving with roasted acorn squash made a really hearty fall meal.

This was tasty and different than anything that we had tried before. The apples were amazing and throwing the pecans on top was an extra bonus. The pork was good but the apples were the star. It smells like fall!

Fabulous! A very tasty, "fall" recipe. I used fresh apples we picked last weekend, served with baked potato and green beans. The only thing I did different from the recipe, was save some of the brown sugar mixture to thicken my sauce. Everyone loved it!

My husband and I thought this was soooo good. I followed others advice and baked in the oven at 350 for 45 minutes and the pork chops were tender and so flavorful. A definite keeper!

I deglazed the pan with a shot of good bourbon, let the alcohol cook off then proceeded with making the sauce and apples. Was a very good dish and I would make it again.

Very good! My daughter ate her whole pork chop! This is a great fall recipe! Will make again! I did double the sauce and I am glad I did...it was just enough doubled.

SO great and made the house smell wonderful! Took someone's advise and doubled the sauce recipe and baked the chops at 350 for 45 minutes. Very tender and juicy!

I made the recipe as written. I doubled the sauce because I read reviews saying I should -- but it didn't need it. When you make the recipe as written there are juices from the chops in the bottom of the baking dish you keep the chops in, if you pour the sauce on top of the chops, all the juices meld wonderfully and the sauce is stretched even more -- plenty enough for the chops. I even dipped some red garlic mashed potatoes in it (who doesn't like pure sugar on mashed potatoes? ;). Overall, a great flavor.

After reading previous reviews, I decided to take the advice and make a few changes to the basic recipe. I sauteed an onion along with the apples and sauce. I also tripled the sauce amount. These were very tasty, and a nice change from the typical pork chops in a gravy sauce. I will definitely make these again.

I made this last night, and i am using this for a dinner party, however i was having a little trouble with the sauce, Can anyone help me with this? Did anyone make this sauce without the oil or less butter? I felt as if the sauce was too oily, did anyone else have the problem? Also, thanks for the all the tips with baking the chops and marinating it. It just came out so full of flavory!

My DH is from New England and he said that this meal reminds him of home. I marinated overnight as suggested by others and the flavor was great. My little one did not like the nutmeg taste though, that is why I can only give this 4 stars.

I was looking for an apple compote recipe to go with pork chops. This one is pretty simple and good. I did make a couple of changes. I dredged the pork chops in egg and flour before frying. Then I added the apples, spices along with 1 cup of apple cider and a few sprigs of thyme and let it reduce down for about 5 minutes. Turned out great!
