I used honey instead of white sugar, and it made for a very soft flavor. I also had to bake for about 25 minutes longer. This was the first pie I ever made, and brought it to a dinner party and everyone really enjoyed it.

I didn't like this recipe. There was too much caramel, not enough sweetness, and the apples were not cooked all of the way. It was tasty, but not was I looking for

Everyone at my house loved this pie last year at Christmas. I was disappointed though, it was extremely runny. I am going to make it again this year, I am just going to cut back on the liquids. Even with it being runny though, it was very good! UPDATE: after a few more years I think I have it perfected. Here's some of my hints: mix the apples you use (I use granny smith and jonathan apples- granny smith is important to control the sweetness). Cut down on the sugar and butter. Add an extra tbl or so of flour. With these changes the pie is no longer runny... Its just YUMMY

The pie was good but there was way to much liquid. I had to pour some out. I also had to put the pie in for another 10mins cause the carmels didn't melt all the way and the apples weren't cooked.

This recipe has made me so popular - everyone loves it. I also love how easy it is. I recently passed the recipe on to another friend and she found the same thing.

I cannot give this recipe anything but 5 stars as it just won first place in an apple pie contest and the grand prize for the entire pie contest. Many thanks. My ribbons are beautiful!

I made the pie last night, brought it into work this morning, and it was gone within twenty minutes. Half the people in my department didn't get any because others were taking seconds! Great recipe! Delicious!!!

Great and Easy! I did however cut the amount of white sugar way back - next time (and there will be a next time) I will omit it all together, it was more then sweet enough.

This was really good! Nice and sweet. I used Granny Smith apples so there was the nice sweet/sour thing going on. Perfect for autumn!

Warm, sweet and gooey, this pie was made for cool autumn Sundays, an absolute must for anyone with a sweet tooth - with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting on top! This was the first pie I've ever made in my life and it literally disappeared in a matter of minutes. Quick, sweet, easy, delicious: in a word, perfect!

Yum yum! You must have a sweet tooth for this one. It was very delicious. I did not find it to be runny and it was gobbled up quickly.

I followed the directions exactly, and while it was definitely gobbled up quickly, I thought it was very messy and too sweet (rarely is something too sweet for my liking) ... next time I will half the sugar and the caramels; I think this way the pie will be firmer and the apples won't be completely overpowered by the caramel.

I really like this concept but the cinnamon just didn't seem right. I may try vanilla and nuts next time.
