I only made one change and that was using melted butter in place of the vegetable oil. I also took other reviewer's suggestions and upped the melted butter to a quarter cup. All three of my men were pleasantly surprized at the kiss in the middle of the muffin--especially the kids. I did not try these myself but they turned out fluffy, moist and quite pretty. My husband did ask if I could cut back or cut out the cinnamon completely next time. He's not a fan of cinnamon and coffee. That's really a personal choice, not reflective of the recipe. I think this would be good with the mint truffle kisses and half peppermint flavoring, too. NOTE: I always bake my muffins at 350*. Mine were done at about 22 minutes at that temperature.

I love these muffins, especially the crunchy topping. I added 1/4 cup of oil and I think they still need a little something else to make them a little more moist, but even so these are a good tasting muffin with your the right combination of both chocolate and coffee. I baked at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

Without the cinnamon sugar on top, these muffins would have been tasteless. The coffee added color but little flavor, and while the buried kiss was nice, the coffee and chocolate flavors didn't interact. Maybe mini chips would have worked better.

I think this recipe has great potential. I upped the instant coffee granules to about 6 tsp to give it more pronounced flavor. Mixing it up, I was so excited, and when they baked they smelled heavenly. Then, I was a little disappointed when they still didn't have a very pronounced flavor. They were beatiful in presentation, and we did eat them happily all week, but I think next time I will try to change the coffee ratio again and maybe add just a tiny bit more sugar. Overall definately worth a try though!

These were nice and moist, but didn't have much flavor in my opinion. Also, I couldn't really taste the coffee in these at all. I skipped the chocolate kisses because I didn't have any, but that wouldn't have changed the flavor of the muffin very much. Thanks for the recipe Susan!

Brilliant recipe, excellent muffin! How creative! Appeals to anyone who loves gooey, melted chocolate, cinnamon and (just a hint of ) coffee. Three tablespoons of oil seemed a tad shy to me so I rounded it out to 1/4 cup and it turned out to be perfect. I used fresh buttermilk and, in keeping with the square muffin/cupcake tin I used, Hershey's Miniatures rather than the kisses. I also lowered the temperature from 425 degrees, which seemed incredibly hot, to 375. These are a pretty chocolate color, not too sweet, with just a hint of coffee flavor and a little more pronounced cinnamon. The chocolate in the center is a gooey, delicious surprise! All three flavors combine to make something uniquely wonderful. I garnished each muffin with a chocolate covered coffee bean. A delicious conversation piece!

Batter a bit stiff so added a bit more of the buttermilk. They were good but will try the other recipe that came up in my search before making these again. Muffins a bit heavy.
