My family actually loved these. Great served warm with vanilla ice cream on top.Or, To jazz up the recipe i used a touch of vanilla in the cake mix dough, spread strawberry jam (any jam would work) on the crust then i used half peanut butter chips / half chocolate chips. This was super tasty and way less boring. :D

I used yellow cake instead of white. This was not as easy to make as I thought it would be. The kids said it tasted like chocolate chip cookies they liked it but it wasn't special at all. Not worth the work.

I used a German Chocolate cake mix and mint chocolate chips. I LOVED these bars with the gooey chocolate layer. They were different and so delicious! I wasn't sure the chocolate layer was going to set up, but it turned out just fine. I baked them 25 minutes.

These are easy and everyone loves them. Personally, I think they are a bit too sweet/rich. I used Cocoa Powder instead of the chocolate chips, which seemed to help.

Great recipe, and truly very simple. Other variations that are good to use also are chocolate cake mix with peanut butter chips and/or butterscotch chips. This recipe is very versatile. I want to try mint chips sometime too!

FANTASTIC! These are easy & tasty!! Anyone rating this below a 5 star made a mistake with the recipe. Use any cake mix & chips you want. Try strawberry cake with white chocolate chips for Valentines!
