I have made this recipe several times now. I substitute Splenda brown sugar for the brown sugar and the recipe comes out great! Much like my older relatives make.

Delicious and versatile. I added a can of rinsed and drained Italian green beans, so to make it a little less sweet, I used 2 T brown sugar, a squirt of soy sauce, and a splash of balsamic vinegar. For just carrots, though, I would not change the recipe.
