This recipe is easier than they make it out to be. All you need is 2 cans green bean ( I like to use french style) and 1 can cream of mushroom soup. Drain green beans and then add the soup to the green beans. Mix in salt, pepper, and then the secret ingredient is a couple of dashes of Tony Cacheres Cajun Seasoning. This does not make it hot ( i know I have an extremely low tolerance for hot food) but adds a taste you will never forget. Cover with French's Fried Onions and bake on 350 degrees for 15 to 25 mins Depending on your oven.

This is a good recipe. I just made a few changes. I added some crumbled fried bacon and sprinkled a little canadian steak seasoning into the casserole while mixing. I also used low sodium canned green beans because of the added sodium in the steak seasoning. These added flavors puts this plain dish over the top.

I have been making this recipe, or shall I say the original Green Bean Casserol since 1965 and never once added soy sauce and still wouldn't. Why add more salt?? It was nice to see that other people are using the Roasted Garlic Cream of Mushroom soup with this; it makes a big difference in taste. My family had always had the Green Bean Casserole every single holiday to the point we tired of it. A couple of years went by and I decided to make it again for Thanksgiving and used the Roasted Garlic Cream of Mushroom Soup instead. I couldn't believe the response from everyone - it was like they had never eaten it before. I added extra mushrooms and doubled the recipe because I knew everyone would go crazy over it. That was the first year Campbells introduced the Roasted Garlic Mushroom Soup, many, many years ago. If it's not on the table for the holidays believe me, I get "the look" of where is it???

This was an awesome and easy recipe! I did make some changes as always. I only used 1 can of soup and I am happy I did or this recipe would have been more of a soup than a casserole. I used 1/2 cup milk. I put 1/2 cup cheese into the casserole.I didn't have the french onions so I put 1 cup chopped onions into the casserole itself and then topped it off with 1 cup cheese and 1 cup bread crumbs.

Boy, I almost messed this one up! I didn't catch in the ingredient list that the green beans needed to be COOKED and I mixed this up with them being raw and popped it in the oven. After the 25 minutes I had my hubby try a bite (I'm NOT a green bean person at all!) and he mentioned it needed more cooking time. THat's when I re-read the recipe and saw it called for cooked green beans - YIKES! I ended up cooking this dish in the oven for about 60 minutes, stiring it every 15 minutes or so. The end result - everyone at Easter dinner liked it! Shwew!

Way back in "ancient" days there was a company named Durkee. They made only two things as I recall: potato sticks and french fried onions. At some point they were bought by a company named French's. Anyway, the point is there was a recipe on the side of the Durkee French Fried Onions can for the REAL original green bean casserole. Which did NOT call for soy sauce! The idea of putting soy sauce in green bean casserole is somehow sacreligious.
