This is a good basic recipe - there are many variations. My grandson likes to make snikerdoodles with white or yellow cake mix and roll the balls in cinnamon & sugar. Because the cake mix is real sweet, I mix the cinnamon 50/50 with sugar.

These were GREAT! The batter is kind of difficult to mix at first. I would suggest mixing the eggs, butter, reviewer suggested 2T of oil and 1tsp butter together first so the dry ingredients get wet faster. Overall, it was incredible. Kids able to help, which was a plus for them.

I use this recipe all of the time and have made a plethora of alterations, depending on my mood. I've used white cake mix, chocolate cake mix, added peanut butter, added coffee, etc. It always turns out perfectly and everyone else always eats them up.

HELPFUL TIP FOR THICK AND CHEWY: I was worried about mine turning out flat like many users said but I think the problem is they are overmixing. Use room temp butter, and as the directions say "STIR" with spoon not mixer. After you've "smushed" in the butter into the batter, and the must add 2T oil, and 1t vanilla, THEN add the eggs and chocolate chips. I also then stick this in the fridge for 30 min or even overnight when I'm preparing ahead ...or in the freezer for 15 min. I bake for 10 min (my oven is quick). Basically if you let this cool on the cookie sheet for 15 min. and the middle is still too gooey, just stick it in the oven again, and add 4 min. I do this with any cookie recipe, and always works. I posted 2 pics. One after not putting in fridge BUT NOT OVERMIXING, and then ones left in fridge plus NOT OVERMIXING. Clearly a difference in thickness. My husband likes flat and chewy, and I like thick and chewy, so both work! You can use yellow cake mix w/1/2C oats and 1/2C chocolate chips. Yum! A wonderful fast recipe with many ways to experiment!

This was awesome!! I picked this one for the kids to use at our youth bake sale. They were so easy for the kids and they tasted GREAT! The only diff I made was that I added some vanilla. Will use this again and again.

I made them just as the recipe stated except, I wasn't paying attention and poured the WHOLE bag of mini chocolate chips in (oops). Turned out great. Very gooey and chocolately (used a Duncan Hines Devils Food mix). Needed something quick and easy and this was perfect. Dough was very hard to mix at first, ended up using my hands, so next time I will use my mixer.

OMG these were SO good! These will be my go-to cookies for the kids lunches. Very quick and delicious. I didn't have butter, so I used butter flavored Crisco. I also had to add a little bit of water to get it to mix. Way to thick, but my eggs were small.

These are INCREDIBLE! I added 3T of vegetable oil to the mix since it was rather thick. It shouldn't be possible to make something that tastes that good in five minutes of prep time, but it is!

These cookies received a better response than any I've ever made. I used Devil's Food Cake mix with the crushed Andes' Candies. (as a previous reviewer had tried). The batter seemed really, really dense so I actually added about 1/4 cup of sour cream. The finished product had an unbelievable texture, size and (most importantly) taste. I made them the next day with the same cake mix but used peanut butter chips. The jury's still out on which we like better. ;) Thanks for such a great recipe!!

Fantastic cookies! I used a devil's food cake mix & mint chocolate chips. I also added 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil & 1 Tsp. vanilla (as per other reviewers) to the mix. I used a tbsp. to scoop cookies onto pan & they turned out the perfect size for us. I cooked them for only 8-10 min. since we like them soft & gooey! Thank you for my new favorite cookie recipe!!!!
