Love that crunch that the cabbage brings! The tanginess goes so well with the cabbage, too. I'll be making this again.

Yummy & so easy to make. I wasn’t sure about adding cabbage when considering this to more conventional Sloppy Joe recipes. But it combined well and absorbed the wonderful flavors, and glad we gave this one a try. When made again, the only tweak is to possibly decrease the brown sugar to 1-1/2 or 2 tablespoons (versus 3 tablespoons) as it might be a tad sweet for some folks. ConkyJoe looked awfully sloppy after aping down his sloppy second sandwich served on a King’s Hawaiian Sweet Roll.

I halved the brown sugar and even then my husband and I found this recipe a bit too sweet and ketchupy tasting. I think I will add some garlic next time and cut down on the ketchup. Overall it was an ok recipe. Still much better than the canned stuff!

I have a picky husband (don't anything green near his plate!), and thought this was a great way to get our family eating more veggies in a disguised way. He did not notice the cabbage at all and both of my boys (one who is also picky) ate it. Recipe is tangy, and I only ended up using 1.5 Tbsp of sugar after tasting it. I also used TJ's organic ketchup which is less sweet than Heinz and a few splashes of liquid smoke. I will definitley make this again!

Surprisingly good! I was skeptical about the cabbage, but it blends right in. I didn't have lemon juice or Worcestershire sauce, so I omitted those. I added some onion powder and chopped garlic to compensate. Great way to use cheap, healthy veggies to stretch expensive, fatty beef!

Yummy! We replaced the the beef with MorningStar Veggie Crumbles and did the final simmer uncovered because the crumbles tend to be a little soggy with all the wet ingredients.

What a surprising ingredient to add -- cabbage -- I never would have thought of it, but it was great! No one in the family had any idea it was hidden in the 'Joe'. I did use 1 T brown sugar instead of 3; probably could leave it out altogether. I used cider vinegar instead of white. Will definitely make this again and again!

I followed this recipe EXACTLY to instructions. I did not change a thing and my whole family, including myself, LOVED it! I have a 3-year-old and an almost 2-year-old who gobbled their sandwiches up, not having a clue there was cabbage, celery, or green pepper in it. This will be replacing my usual go-to sloppy joe recipe... not only is it healthier, but it actually tastes BETTER! Give this one a try, you will be amazed! Thanks for a great recipe!!
