I love, love, love this recipe! My mom lives in a nursing home, and I make triple batches of this and freeze one-cup servings in zip-top bags. When food is served that Mom doesn't care for, she asks the dining room staff to microwave one of her bags of sloppy joe mix to serve on top of a roll. Her tablemates love it, too. So much so that I'm having trouble keeping up with the demand! Important note: Do not substitute ground turkey for ground beef. The taste is completely different. (I sent the entire batch down the garbage disposal.)

This was delicious. My family of 9 loved them. I did cut the sugar amount in half since the ketchup has sugar already in it.

This is the perfect sloppy joe. I made the recipe as written (minus the celery -- I forgot to buy it at the store) and was more than pleased with the results. The cabbage is a fantastic addition.

This is a keeper! No one can tell there's cabbage in it, (which they hate!). It really does stretch your serving size adding all of these veggies, and adds nutritional value as well. Why didn't I think of that!

Great way to use up some cabbage and stretch the meat. I cut the sugar in half, and I thought it was sweet enough but fiance didn't. I left out the lemon juice (didn't have any). And I did let this simmer for longer than 10 minutes to give the flavors a chance to come together. Very good.

Now that I've had these, I hope I never have to make sloppy joes without the cabbage again! Preshredded cabbage/coleslaw mix still keeps these Sloppy Joes in the convenient go-to recipe category that everyone loves!

The cabbage/veggies is excellent! I followed the recipe 1st time but adjusted since. It was too sweet! So no sugar! Added a splash or two of chili powder 2nd time and canjun seasoning the third. Both times were good. I also left out lemon juice but upped the mustard a little. The kids liked it with some shredded cheddar, hubby and I like it with some coleslaw on top. (Carolina style) Now its the way we like it. The cabbage makes it a healthier and tastier alternative.

Very good recipe...My kids loved it! I did everthing as directed, except I only used half the sugar. I didn't use an onion (I didn't have one on hand). Besides that I followed th recipe to a T. This is a keeper...Thanks for sharing!

This was good. We thought it was too sweet, though. I only put in 1T of sugar, but with the ketchup, it was too much. Next time I will substitute 8oz. tomato sauce for the ketchup.

The addition of all the veggies and cabbage makes for a crunchier, less fattening sloppy Joe. I used a tad less brown sugar and a bit more Worcestershire and lemon juice, for a more savory flavor. It tasted even better the next day.

This was really easy and really good. My kids gobbled it up and all had 2nds or even 3rds. I asked them what the main ingredient in it was, and they all said meat. Proportionally, it's more like 1/3 meat, and 2/3 veggies. What a great way to sneak some veggies into them! Next time I make it, I'll probably cut the sugar in half, though. It was a little too sweet.

My family thought this was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed it; no one noticed the cabbage or knew what it was. I put in a little bit less ketchup than the recipe called for because I prefer a less-sweet sloppy joe, but this was great. We will make this our family's sloppy joe recipe of record!
