Not fantastic, but pretty tasty. Giving 4 stars because w/ minor alterations it is a super filling, low calorie meal. I halved the recipe, used ground turkey, fat free broth, brown rice, and added green peppers. Next time I will use a full 29 oz can of sauce bc 14 oz was not nearly enough, even though I halved the recipe.

Nice, comforting dish. I used ground turkey (browned with onion and garlic, and added some worstershire and one can au jus gravy), brown rice, and 2 cans tomato soup with some nutmeg and white pepper in lieu of the tomato sauce. I also cut the head of cabbage into wedges to parboil, and layered cabbage, rice, ground turkey, cabbage, and tomato soup. The result was plenty saucy for me. Can't wait for the leftovers tomorrow!

This one smelled so good cooking! However, the basic version of this recipe sounded way too bland for me, so I took a bunch of readers suggestions. Firstly, I added a lot of seasonings to the beef while cooking it (little bit of brown sugar, parsley, worcestershire sauce, tiny bit of balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, black pepper and red pepper flakes). Excellent flavor. Also, I only used 1 can of broth. I think next time I might try and boil the cabbage or something---some pieces were done, other (thicker) slices were still crunchy. The rice was a little bit hard, so I might end up cooking that next time (I just don't want it to get too mushy though). Or maybe I'll stir it more next time while cooking. It fit into my biggest pan, but just barely--it makes a lot! It's very cheap to make though. Very tasty!

Love this recipe! I usually cut it in half and it makes a huge 9 x 13 inch pan. Best using Campbells beef broth-adds lots of flavor. Can substitute brown rice for a lower carb option-just cook a bit longer.

I enjoyed this. My husband and daughter, not so much, but he's partial to actual cabbage rolls. I was lazy! I used around 4 cups of tomato sauce, a whole smallish cabbage (around 1½ pounds), and 1½ pounds of ground beef. I also added more seasoning (seasoning salt, garlic powder, pepper, worcestershire sauce). It was tasty enough but it took more like an hour to cook. I thought it was getting too dry, so I added an extra cup of broth... So we had more like cabbage roll casserole stew/soup. :) Oh, well. I enjoyed the flavour with the additional seasonings, and I would make it again if I was feeling lazy but wanting cabbage rolls. Thanks for sharing, Nancy!

I personally don't see the point of white rice, so I used brown and found out that they are not interchangeable here. It didn't cook well whatsoever and stayed hard. It wasn't intolerable though, and my roommate and I decided to appreciate the added texture anyways. I like it spicy so I added my favs - curry, paprika, cumin, turmeric, & cayenne - makes everything that much better

I thought this recipe was just okay. I thought it was a little flavorless so to the leftovers I added garlic, oregano and basil and it was MUCH better.

I've never had cabbage rolls so can't attest to this tasting just like the real thing, but it sure is good!!! My 2yr old and 4yr old liked it and ate every last bite. My husband said "make again" after his very first bite. I did add more seasonings to the ground beef and added some ground pork as well (had some that I needed to use up). I accidently added a bit too much rice so I had to up the liquid ingredients to compensate. I also added a can of cream of mushroom soup to the tomato sauce. Gave it a little creaminess. Yummy! Will make again.

Today at work, I was thinking, "What should I make for dinner?" Cabbage Rolls popped into my mind, but I didn't want to hassle with rooolling each cabbage roll. So, as soon as I got home, I searched through the cabbage roll recipes and found this! This is very GOOD and SIMPLE! All I changed was I added 1 (15oz) can of "Fire Roasted Tomatoes" and used that can for water (filled it twice--instead of the beef broth) and seasoned to taste with Salt, Pepper & Granulated Garlic...and that's it. It is awesome and a definate keeper for my Recipe Box! :)

This recipe is super simple and easy to make! It makes 12 large servings. I changed the amount of ground beef to 1 1/4 lbs, because that's all I had and I still filled a 9X13 to the top! I will half the recipe next time. Delicious though!

These were a lot easier than traditional cabbage rolls. There were a few things I changed. First of all I started putting the cabbage in my 9x13 pan, and it was obvious there was NO WAY everything was goint to fit! I ended up putting in a black speckled roaster pan. Secondly, I added about 3 cloves of garlic, 1/2 tsp. chili powder, and 1/4 tsp. black pepper, plus about 1/2 of a large green pepper. I didn't have a big can of tomato sauce, so used a 28 oz. can of diced tomatoes, plus 1 small can of tomato sauce. It definitely does get better after sitting in the frig overnight and heating up the next day. Overall very tasty and filling.

I only had one pound of ground beef so that's all the meat I could use but I kept all the other ingredient measurements the same and it turned out great. I suggest you use a lot more tomato sauce if you use the full two pounds of beef. I also sprinkled a little cheddar cheese on top at the end and it was delicious!

YUM! I tend to make this in my slow cooker, browning the meat first, and mixing in everything else. Also works well with brown rice, upping the fiber a bit. This just about fills my 7qt Crockpot. I cook it on low all day, and the leftovers just get better and better until they are all gone!

This is an incredible recipe. I make it twice a week for my hubby. He absolutely loves it. Once I was out of the tomato sauce so I used red enchilada sauce and what a hit it was. The enchilada sauce gave it a nice kick!
