I just made this and it's DELICIOUS! Definitely going to make it again. I would recommend for people like me who like their cabbage soggy to par boil it first. It's a wee bit too crunchy for me. But all in all great flavors. It was actually reminiscent of shepherds’ pie to me.

I added half a tub of Philadelpia onion and chive cream cheese spread. Yummy!

My husband has celiac disease so it is hard to find tasty casseroles that are gluten-free. I have had cabbage rolls in the past but I would not spend the time to make them myself. This is a great alternative for us. Very tasty!

I mix 1/2 can of tomato paste with 1 cup V-8 juice rather than using the tomato sauce, and layering it instead of mixing the whole thing together. If it seems a bit dry as it's baking, add more V-8 juice.

I also grew up with cabbage rolls. A few sugguestions. To improve the look try doing a layed look instead of tossing it all together. As for the rice and cabbage being under cooked. Blanche your cabbage leaves and use cooked rice, layer in your baking pan and bake for 20 - 25 mins until hot. My family uses Campbells Tomato Soup instead of Tomato Sauce, much better flavor in my opinion,

Nice healthy dish. We used half the turkey and soy beef. The rice was not cooked all the way through on ours either.

My family and I didn't like this at all. Not much flavor and the cabbage didn't seem cooked.

Pretty good! Some of the rice near the top got dried out/uncooked, maybe if I stirred it next time, the rice on top would get into the liquid and cook better.

Tastes good- not very visually appealing. My husband and I enjoyed this but the kids wouldn't touch it! Using savoy cabbage is a bit pricier but it cooks faster. I made a few changes to the original recipe-I added two cans of whole berry cranberry sauce. I also pre-cooked the rice and replaced the beef broth with a can of Rokeach cabbage soup. I thought it was tasty and will enjoy it tomorrow night as well. Next time I might bake the dish without the rice and serve the cabbage mixture over plain white rice. Thank you for posting this recipe.
