As a lot of you have said, I tried this years ago, and it even came with a 7-day diet plan with different foods on different days. Still a staple in my kitchen. If you have a juicer, try putting the left overs in the juicer and you have instant (& great tasting!) vegetable juice for your next batch!! I've even used it in my bloody mary cocktail.

I could barely get this down. I don't know why, but I did not care for it.

Really good and healthy! My dad would eat this all of the time and I'm glad that I found a recipe that is similar! Great meal to have during the holidays to watch the weight!

This recipe makes a ton! I had to split it up between my large pot and a smaller pot as it all wouldn't fit in. Very tasty. It also freezes well and for months! Just let it defrost out on the counter.

This is terribly bland but with some onion powder, black pepper and V8 it's really good. Good base recipe. Thank you. :)

My husband goes out of town for 2 weeks on business a few times a year. So, instead of being lonely, I plan healthy home spa-like activities for myself. First, I always make a delicious 1/2 recipe of this healthy soup. It helps clean and balance my system. Then after work, I try to get in some extra exercise, a luxurious tub soak with aromatherapy, mix up a homemade facial, invite a few friends for a movie night, do the nails, play relaxing music after work, tackle some of the clutter, enjoy a good book, and get good sleep. When he's back, I am rested and feeling healthier. I'm ready then to hear about his adventures and take good care of him. Including this soup in a healthy diet is a good way to take care of yoursef for the people you love.

This soup was very good but needed a little spice so I added four cloves of minced garlic and some Italian seasoning. It turned out great but makes a huge amount. I will half the recipe next time. My boyfriend really liked it and we have been eating it all week.

Yum! A couple of notes: 1) this makes a HUGE batch; and 2) it is a lot better if you add chili powder and cumin (to taste).

I liked this soup a lot...even better after it sat in the fridge for a day. I had to use our large stock pot to make this and think I ended up simmering it for about an hour or so on low. This is going to be a new staple in our house!

This makes a ton of soup! Used two big crock pots to make it, and they were both full. I would cut the recipe in half if I was making it again. I made the soup exactly as the recipes states and it is VERY bland. It needs lots of spices to make it better.

This soup was pretty good and quite plentiful. I actually divided the ingredients into 2 5-qt dutch ovens. I added salt, pepper, thyme, parsley, oregano, Tony Chachere's creole seasoning, a little garlic powder, and some hot sauce and still wasn't satisfied with the overpowering tomato flavor until I added a little worcestershire sauce. Perfection! Surprisingly, my 6 year old picky daughter LOVED the soup and told me I should make it more often (before I added the worcestershire sauce). I lost that bet! This will definitely be going into the freezer and will be a keeper!

I make this soup all the time in my crock pot! I love it and the only changes I make are some more spices and more vegetables. I also occasionally add chicken or chick peas, especially if I am following the diet. Also, it's great with spicy tomato juice! I portion and freeze the leftovers and they are wonderful!

I've been making this recipe for a couple years with minor tweaks -- spicing it up, adding extra veggies, etc. It is a great soup recipe! I can't attest to the fat burning qualities, but I always make another batch before using the last container from the freezer.

A friend of mine did this diet and it did take off a few pounds for her. I love cabbage and tomatoes, so this is perfect for me. A great way to cleanse and start off to eating healthier. I'm eating it for breakfast right now. I did however change it to my liking. 1/2 a cabbage head, 3 celery stalks, 1/2 onion, 1 onion soup packet, 1 V8 low sodium Juice, 3 carrots, white button mushrooms (sliced), 1 tsp garlic powerder and 1 cilantro bouillon. I simmered it for a little over an hour. Love it!!!

This soup is wonderful. I am on Weight Watchers and made as directed it is zero points! Excellent to have with a sandwich for lunch or as a snack without adding many calories. I leave out the bell peppers simply because I don't like them, and use 2 packs of onion soup mix. I cook this soup in the crock pot. As for the reviewers who are adding potatoe and meat and giving it a 5 star rating, you are COMPLETELY changing the recipe. It's SUPPOSED to be low cal!!!

My boyfriend looked at the pot quizzically, and I explained to him "its good, its healthy and filling and a great way to get your veggies in. Its something easy for weekday lunches." I think that is the best way to describe the soup. Its not outstandingly delicious or something I would ever crave, but it hits the spot. It was a great opportunity to get rid of all the veggies I had in the fridge. I omitted the carrots and added cremini and white mushrooms, bok choy, zucchini, leeks and used fresh green beans. Also, I found I need more liquid because of all the extra veggies I added, so used more beef broth.
