I baked this and was not in love with it until the next day. It's one of those you could leave for the night and devour it tomorrow.

I lost my old favorite recipe and searched until I found this one. I always doubled the old one and made 3 pies. 3 pies is perfect with this doubled recipe! I shortened baking time to 45 minutes. I froze what I wanted later (uncooked, covered in plastic). You can also substituted lemon extract for lemon juice - 2 tsp. if doubled.

My sister brought this to Thanksgiving dinner. It sounded weird, but the contrast of the sour buttermilk and the sweet pecan is luscious!

Overall, I received rave reviews on this pie, but it was a little too sweet for my liking. I'll cut down on the sugar next time.

Made this for Christmas and it was amazingly good! It's easy to make but everyone will think it took you all day! This is now a going to be staple at holiday dinners.

Nice interior, good flavor, pretty pie. Tastes even better the next day, so 5 stars! If you like more pecans, just use a deep dish pie crust, no need to adjust the recipe otherwise. I used whole pecans, just dropped them on the bottom of the pie and filled it up...they float to the top during baking.

this is a good recipe, i got this recipe from the houston chronicle 15 yrs ago, with one exception, they put the pecans on the bottom of the pie shell. one day my daughter wanted some chocolate in it so i added 2 tbls of dark cocoa to the flour and when it cooked up a chocolate fudgy layer formed on the bottom of the pie. it is wonderful!
