Butter Pecan Bars

"A friend of mine, who picks pecans every year, brought me some of these yummy bars along with a sack of pecans. They are incredibly rich and gooey, and freeze like a dream. Easy and perfect for the holiday season."

Original Recipe Yield 1 - 8x8 inch pan
 

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup pecan halves

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8x8 inch square baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour and pecans until just blended. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges begin to pull away from the sides of the pan. Allow bars to cool in the pan before cutting.
