for some reason this had NO taste. it became the "piping decoration frosting" and i had to make a cream cheese frosting in its place. i put plenty of vanilla and powdered sugar in it. i wont use this recipe again

Definitely tastes like it's from an in-store bakery, not an actual quality bakery. The shortening and overabundance of confectioner's sugar gave it a rather unpleasant tinny aftertaste.

I used butter for the margarine & butter flavor Crisco for the shortening. This frosting was soooo good. Funny thing is I really don't like buttercream frosting - Till Now. No more store bought frosting for me. Thanks for the great recipe!

This is the best frosting recipe ever.. I use it for almost every cake. I make the chocolate kind too. This is really the best frosting ever.. everyone loves it.. even the people who don't like frosting

Easy and so good. I added a little coccoa poweder and a little less sugar...a bit less milk too to keep it the consistancy I wanted it!! SO GOOD!

Great-tasting frosting- my husband thinks this is better than the bakery! I never thought I had the time for making homemade frosting, but this was SO quick and easy it totally changed my mind!

While I would say the flavor of this frosting is less than ok, the consistency was almost unspreadable! Do not be fooled, this frosting tastes nothing like you would find in an "in-store bakery". This was a big, unspreadable disappointing flop!

Finally...at "LONG LAST"...a Butter Cream Frosting Recipe that is a real "KEEPER"!!! I've been looking for a good basic bakery frosting with NO Eggs...and this one is it !!! Turns a golden color...very pretty. Good texture also. Didn't think it was too sweet "AT ALL"...I'll be using this recipe often!! Thanks Kris for sharing it !!!

Made this last night to go on Red Velvet cupcakes--this made A LOT of frosting! I only used about half the recipe for 24 cupcakes...so this would be perfect for a layered cake, I think. I used 1 cup margarine because I was out of shortening and half and half instead of milk.It was fantastic. I will be using this recipe from now on for cookies and cakes.

Good basic frosting. Used butter instead of margarine. I have made both as a vanilla and a chocolate frosting (simply by replacing 1 cup of the powdered sugar with cocoa).
