My family and I loved this recipe. I doubled the recipe but did a few changes: Used olive oil and a bit less than what the original recipe calls for; substituted milk for coconut milk (because I had it and wanted to use it), and added a chopped apple. It was really nice... I have to say that I'm sure this recipe would have been equally nice just as originally written. Next time I will follow it to the tee.

This was delicious! I made a few changes to make the dish a bit more flavorful. I followed previous reviews and added an extra teaspoon of cumin and substituted plain yogurt for the cream/milk. Then I added 1 teaspoon of ginger paste to the onion and garlic saute, used 8 oz of tomato sauce instead of the tomato soup, and added 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. The flavors were unreal. My husband LOVED it and my picky 2-year old devoured it, as well. This will be made again and again in my house.

Delicious, easy and convenient. I made a few changes. I used 2 extra teaspoons of curry and no masala. I replaced half of the potatoes with cauliflower. I also added some green peas for color. This is a very versatile recipe. You could make it using a bean and/or tofu combination for an easy vegetarian main dish.

No matter how many spices I added I could still taste the tomato soup, next time maybe I'll try canned or fresh tomatoes.

Delicious. I didn't have tomato soup or onion, so I left these out but it still tasted great. A little cayenne pepper made it even tastier!

My first attempt at Indian cooking and it was a success! I think my pototoes were too big so I wish the recipe had an amount that just a listing for potatoes. I found the specialty spices at the co-op and Penzey's had them too (I'm lucky enough to live in a town with a store). This recipe also freezes well. there was soooo much food! I served it with Naan and a tomato, feta, cucumber salad.

delicious curried chickpea dish. Just the right amount of spice. Like others suggested I used plain yogurt in place of the milk/cream and it was great.

My boyfriend said this reminded him of his favorite chickpea curry at the Indian restaurants. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is because I added a considerable amount of half-and-half so that it didn't have the consistency of mashed potato.

This is really really yummy. The only thing I did differently was to add a teaspoon of cayenne. The curry sauce could be used for other dishes. My husband is a big meat eater, so I think I would add chicken and omit the potatoes, and serve it over rice.

We love this recipe!! It is full of flavor! Nice amount of heat! I made this on what is normally our take-out pizza night. It's a very inexpensive recipe to prepare for a family of six. I made a few changes. I cubed the potatoes and onion, omitted the oil, added 1 1/2 cups water and 1/2 small can of tomato paste. Also, omitted the milk. I added all the spices and used fresh ginger. Didn't have Garam Masala so I googled it and made my own. I cooked hot Italian turkey sausage separately in a frying pan then cut it into bite size pieces and added it to the simmering pot. I served the curry over brown rice. I'll make this time and time again. Thanks for the recipe! mg

This recipe seemed very starchy to me. Between the potatoes (a starch), the chick peas (starch-like consistency), and the rice, it was just too much. I made it because I wanted to try using some chick peas I had. It was not a hit at our house and I will not be making it again.

I just made this recipe! I loved it! The only suggestion I have is to use Yukon gold potatoes they give an extra layer of flavor, and do not break up as easily as other potatoes!

This was pretty good and tasted very similar to our favorite Indian restaurant. Per others suggestions, I used crushed tomatoes (I do not like canned tomato soup) and cauliflower. Next time, will halve the amount of spices as the flavor was a little strong for our taste (and I like things spicy). Raisins and/or cashews would be a great addition.

This was very good. I did a few modifications based on what I had in my pantry- a can of tomato sauce instead of the soup- and 1/2 C of lite coconut milk instead of the cream. I also put the spices in straight away with the onion and garlic to allow them cook a little longer. I also used cauliflower instead of potatos because I was serving with rice. I really great flavor in this dish. I will definately make this again.

I followed this recipe in every way except that I used a 15 oz. can of chickpeas. This meal was excellent! What an easy, quick, and inexpensive curry this is! It was the perfect compromise between the spiciness my boyfriend and I love and my parents' and son's virgin tongues. My picky toddler ate everylast bit and even scooped the rest of the sauce up with his bread. This is a great easy, quick, and cheap recipe, especially when one considers how great it tastes!
