We liked this recipe ... we were not overly thrilled but it had a good taste to it! I spiced it up some and used fresh tomatoes instead of canned. It is nice and simple to make.

We enjoyed. I used my cast iron skillet to layer the burrito pie and bake. I also made the re-fried beans using a can of pintos. Heat small amt. of oil in skillet, add cumin and cayenne to taste, when hot, add can of beans with all liquids. Mash with ricer and cook to proper consistancy. Better and healthier than canned refried beans. Also, I will try green salsa in place of taco sauce next time.

I thought that this was OK. I followed others comments and spread the beans on the tortillas, which I think helped the overall recipe. That said, I didn't think it was that great. I wouldn't make it again.

I halved the recipe for DH and myself and it was very good but the flour tortillas were mushy and blended with the mixture..next time I am going to use corn tortillas

This was pretty good.... good enough my picky husband had seconds. I used the "refried beans without the refry" recipe off this site and spread those on the tortillas (thanks to whoever first gave that advice). I changed some things in the meat, mostly because I only had a pound, so cut some things back and added some taco seasoning to get more flavor with less meat. Garnished with sour cream and avocado pieces.

This is a great recipe cause you can modify it very easily and still have it taste good. I didn't use as many tortillas, but did make the 2nd layer double. Used Monterey Jack cheese - didn't use the taco sauce, but used taco seasoning - it was a bit on the dry side so we used salsa on top when we served it - I would use the sauce next time ! Also I used turkey rather than beef . My version was probably quite different from the original, but.....I doubt you could ruin this if you have any kind of good cooking sense ! It's very tasty and I'll certainly do it again. My husband loved it !

I'm in total agreement the al lthe other many that have reviewed this recipe - DELICIOUS! My 7 year old and hubby couldn't stay out of it. I made it with the following substitutes - ground turkey, fat free shredded cheddar cheese and I used salsa instead of the taco sauce (ChiChi's Thick & Chunky Medium). A definite keeper!

Wow....this was not a big hit. I'm not a picky eater....and I took one bite and was instantly not impressed. I always follow the recipe as written the first go around. (one of my goofy rules) But I should have read the reviews on this one and took some advice. If you do not like refried beans or only "kinda" like them....DO NOT MAKE THIS! It was so bland. I'm not sure where people are getting the "heat" element from. It wasn't there....I'm just not sure what to say other than I think this needs major adjustments....but I don't think I'm wasting my time. I'll just make burritos or taco's.

This was really easy and delicious. I did add some chili powder (regular and chiptole), some cumin and some taco seasoning mix. Substituted a can of tomatoes and green chiles for the green chiles and used refried black beans instead of regular because we like them more. I cut the recipe in half and it still made a ton of food. Nice change from tacos! Will definitely make this again.

This was just OK. I followed the advice of others and didn't mix the beans with the meat, and double layered the tortillas. I feel that this recipe was more work then I wanted to put into it. Mainly because it tastes just like burritos. A regular traditional burrito is MUCH easier to make and tastes just a yummy.
