My family gobbled these up before I had a chance to put a burger or dog in them. A recipe I'll use again and again.

Okay. I do not know what happened. My buns turned out to be dinner rolls.

10 stars if you ask me. Never did I imagine that I could make hot dog & burger buns. I used my food processor w/ dough blade for the kneading. This required about 3/4 of the liquid. Other than that I followed the recipe EXACTLY and they came out beautifully. I divided the dough and made half burger and half hot dog buns. Thanks so much for this easy easy recipe.

AMAZING! MARVELOUS! FABULOUS! I have been working and living in Japan for almost 2 years. It is NEAR IMPOSSIBLE to find hamburger buns at supermarkets here. The only hamburger buns you will find in here is at a McDonald`s kitchen...or a gourmet hamburger restaurant ( which are actually rare in numbers ). I am not a big fan of hamburgers, but once in a while, you get the great desire and craving for it. Armed with this recipe, I set to work and was amazed! I followed this to a tee and it turned out fantastic. It was slightly crispy on the outside, but very light and fluffy on the inside. I do suggest a few tips though ; If you are using whole wheat, it doesn`t rise up as much as regular white flour with these buns. Hence, for those who want to use whole wheat flour, it`s best to add a bit of white flour to the mix. I made another batch with 1/2 whole wheat and 1/2 regular flour, and those turned out to be more like dense breadrolls ( still delicious though! ). This recipe is a keeper. In fact, after I review this, I will make another batch for tomorrow`s dinner : My boyfriend requested hamburger twice in a row bc of these buns!

I have been making all of our bread except for buns for about a year now. I made these this morning and they are wonderful. I will not be buying any more buns. I do all my mixing and rising in a bread machine. This is a very easy recipe. Thanks for sharing!

These were soo good. I added about 2 T. minced onion, 1/4 t. garlic salt, to the first flour mixing, after I added the rest of the flour, mixed in about 1/3 c. finely shredded cheese, it like melted into the dough, and brushed the tops with melted butter before baking and put a pan of water in the bottom of the oven. so good , so easy love cheese and onion buns.

Perfection! Like some others, I used the good ole bread machine for the dough cycle, added in quite a bit of minced garlic as well as an extra rise prior to baking. Thank you!

This recipe was simply put: AWESOME! Because I keep kosher I substituted the milk for water and the butter for oil. I also squeezed the juice of half a lemon in. I made it in my bread maker and then followed step 3 onward to spectacular buns. I will never need to buy buns again.

I love this recipe! I used half whole wheat flour and half white, and I substituted 1T active dry yeast for the package of instant yeast. Then I mixed the yeast with the warm liquids and half the flour and let proof for 45 minutes. From there, add remaining flour and salt and follow the recipe instructions. Ymmm...

I do a lot of bread baking, but I cannot recommend this recipe. These buns were dry, flavorless and tasted more like plain bagels than hamburger buns.

These are fantastic! Nice flavor. These would also make great dinner rolls if you made them into smaller balls. I let it rise for an hour and then shaped them and let them rise again. I do that with all my bread doughs though. Thanks for sharing a great recipe!

These were great I gave them 4 stars because the recipe itself was a great starting place but I did make some changes. First I brought the eggs to room temp by placing them in warm water and used evaporated milk instead of regular milk so there was no heating needed. I proofed the yeast before adding the milk mixture to it and then added the flours (1 c bread, 1 c wheat, 1 1/4 c AP) to that. I used the other 1/4 c AP flour during kneading, which I did by hand. I took the advice of another reviewer and let the dough rise once (for an hour) before dividing it and then let it rise again. Half of them I flattened for buns, 3 I added oatmeal and sunflowers to (for breakfast roll), and 3 I added melted butter and garlic salt (for dinner). THEY ARE WONDERFUL! I've had one at every meal since I made them (great for making little pizzas on!) :-D (and the hubby loves them too!) Will def. make these before buying buns/rolls again. THANKS!

I'm so happy to find this recipe! I've never made homemade buns before and this couldn't have been any easier. I used my bread machine through step 3 and then shaped them into buns and baked with an egg white wash and sesame seeds atop. I followed the recipe exact with two exceptions: used 1/2 whole wheat flour/1/2 ap flour and for the milk, I used buttermilk. They look and taste wonderful! Thank you for posting this recipe!

I was so proud of how these turned out! I used 3/4C of whole wheat flour, along with the white. If you're using a stand mixer for this, I would add more flour at the beginning and make sure you beat the egg a little. I wasn't sure if instant yeast is the same as rapid-rise, so I let it rise a little longer. These smelled so good and tasted even better. Perfect for our burgers. The 12 buns came out rather large, I think you could easily make 15 out of this recipe and have them fit a regular sized burger better. We froze the extra and I can't wait to see how they take to freezing.
