These are awesome. My husband and kids beg for these all the time. I cover the whole ball in chocolate though.

Delicious. I absolutely love this recipe; I make them every year at Christmas to give as gifts to coworkers. Highly recommended.

These were fast and tasty. The kids loved them and I thought they were really good too. The rolling them and dipping them is kind of a pain though, so I'll probably stick to bar form.

I read all the reviews, and tried to cut back on the amount of sugar in the recipe like others suggested. I found that it made the "dough" not firm enough to roll into balls. I used the full 4 cups, and it was perfect! I also added a little paraffin to the chocolate, which made it shiny and perfect. YUM!

This is perfect! Here's the scoop on them being dry. You need to very carefully measure your ingredients. What I do is put all the powdered sugar except for the last cup. Mix it all together and slowly add the last cup of powdered sugar if needed. This will ensure that you get the perfect rollable texture each and every time!

These are really good with one modification. I did take everyones advice and only used 3cups of powdered sugar. It was plenty sweet enough so I think 4 might have been too much. I didn't find these too awful time consuming and they were really easy. The mixing with your hands gets a little messy, but I don't think it would've been possible with a spoon alone. These are definately a keeper. Thanks for sharing!

Better than the receipe I have been using for years. More peanut butter and less butter made them easier to shape and they stayed firmer.

I love these buckeyes! They are alot more simple than the recipe i usually use. They are really good when you cover the whole thing in chocolate, but thats hard and i guess they wouldnt really be called buckeyes. Very simple and makes alot! I made at least 40 medium sized ones.

I made these with a few modifications this afternoon. I used natural peanut butter instead of regular and as suggested by another reviewer, I reduced the amount of sugar to 3 cups (which was perfect IMHO). I melted the chocolate in the microwave, and I used a large bar (about 5 oz) of Hershey's "Special Dark" chocolate bar and a small Hershey's milk chocolate bar along with the shortening. I think these would be tastier with 'regular' peanut butter...but they were still very good and slightly healthier with the natural PB

I had high hopes for this recipe after reading so many 5 star ratings. However, I found them to be WAY too sweet to the point of losing the peanut butter taste. I even added extra peanut butter than the recipe called for. Big disappoint; I won't make these again.

This has got to be the best combination of chocolate and peanut butter ever!! I have also made these several times and have never altered the recipe, because they turn out perfectly every time. I have been tempted to take the easier route of the 9x9 pan, but I can't bring myself to do it since they look so amazing in ball form. Last time I made them, my fiance and the best man ate the entire plate and said,"these are like Reese's only ten times better."

I love buckeyes being from Ohio. I have found that you can also use a fondue set to dip the balls in the chocolate. It works very well.

These were delicious, but very very sweet! I'd definitly classify them not as a cookie, but as candy. They were a little too sweet for me, but they are still great! Also, they were a bit time consuming to roll & dip. I think next time I will just try bars instead. (But they were fun to make.)
