Absolutely LOVED this!! I always look for an excuse to make this. The sweetness of the brown sugar and the smoky bacon and slightly salty sausages are an incredible combination.

I made these for a baby shower brunch and they were a big hit. I wrapped the bacon around the smokies the night before and tossed them in the brown sugar the next morning. Use the release aluminum foil to bake for easy clean up. Delicious!

I followed the recipe exactly as shown and my bacon was rubbery and disgusting. It never got crispy and made the appetizer really fatty and chewy. They sounded so good, so I tried again with a different brand of bacon...same results, rubbery bacon. I even cooked the second batch longer, and the edges of the weinies started to burn. Again, it sounded delish, but I like crisp bacon!

Time consuming but worth it! I suppose everyone makes these a little different but I cut the bacon into 3rds, wrap each smokie in a 1/3 slice of bacon and roll it around in the brown sugar to cover. I put all the brown sugar covered smokies in a container overnight and then put them out on a foil lined cookie sheet and brush the brown sugar liquid over the smokies. They are sticky and messy when done but as they cool they caramelize and aren't that messy ~ just delicious!

We loved these. I dredged the bacon and the smokies in brown sugar before rolling them up. I skewered them and placed the skewers across a foil lined baking sheet, then sprinkled with more brown sugar. You really should make about 2 times the amount that you think you need as someone else suggested.

Yummo! Just line the pan with tinfoil for easy clean-up. I def recommend using the broiler. After 30 minutes at 350 and 5 on broil they still weren't crunchy.

Very good, Like candy:) I put them on a cooling rack in the oven and placed it on a lined cookie sheet. I sprinkled brown sugar on them every 15mins and turned them over once at the 30min mark. Cooked perfectly and everyone loved them, 1st to go!

Awesome - everyone loved them! I tried to broil them as people suggested and I thought I ruined them b/c the bacon began to burn. I discovered a lot of people love burnt bacon b/c everyone loved them just the way they were!

A real crowd pleaser! I made about 100 for a progressive dinner, they were gone within 30 minutes. I followed the advice of previous reviews: 1.Ran the smokies and bacon pieces through brown sugar before assembling, 2. Used Reynolds Release foil 3. Baked for 50 minutes at 350 (partly because I used thick sliced bacon). Thanks for the recipe!

This is a great appetizer recipe. I tried it with sausage and with little hot dogs. The sausage had the better flavor. It definitely is worth it to put all the smokies together (smothering them in brown sugar and putting them in a pan or bowl) a day or morning ahead and let them make their own syrup and then pour the syrup over them before baking. I also found it easier to put them together onto individual tooth picks instead of a skewer.

simple and tasty...what more could you ask for in an appetizer?? i did bake them on a grid to let the fat drip off, which made me feel a bit better (given how many i ate!) and they still tasted yummy!

I got so many raves about this recipe! They are easy to make and taste so good. My husband and I made them the night before and soaked them in brown sugar overnight that was fun to do that with the hubby! I cooked mine in the crock pot until the bacon was done and throughout the day was adding brown sugar to the and giving them a little stir. yum!

This recipe is simple and delicious! I made these for the first time for Thanksgiving with my family. My fiance, (who initially argued that lil smokies were only good when simmered in BBQ sauce in the crockpot,) loved these SO MUCH that he ate about 1/3 of them before we even left the house to go to my mother's! The only thing that I changed was that I put the little smokies in a zip lock bag along with the brown sugar before wrapping in bacon. I shook them up in the bag until all of the smokies were covered, then once wrapped in bacon, I used the rest of the brown sugar to coat the tops of the smokies after placing them on a baking sheet. Don't be afraid to get crazy with the brown sugar. It makes the smokies juicy and sweet!
