My first meatloaf and it was good! I followed the recipe for about 12 and then followed many sugestions. I used a pyrex 9 X 13 and had the meatloaf sit on top of 4 pieces of bread. On the bread I sprinkled a little brown sugar and ketcup. In the meatloaf- I used 1/2 c of milk and 2 eggs. I bought Lipton onion soup but they had one for beef so I used that one and I chopped up a small onion. I also mixed in about 1 cup of Italian breadcrumbs instead of cracker crumbs. I added about 2 Tsp of minced garlic and about 2 T of ketchup within the beef. I used all other ingredients as indicated in the recipe. For the topping I then mixed togethter the 3/4c ketchup, 1/2 c brown sugar and T of Worcestershire sauce. I spread about 3/4 on top and after 40 minutes coated the top with remaining. It was a hit!!!

This is a wonderful recipe. My entire family loves it. I have not made meatloaf for years as it is usually bland, but I ran across this recipes and we were very pleasantly surprised. It needs nothing else to add flavor to it.

I grew up making the meatloaf recipe from Julia Child's cookbook "The Way to Cook", but think this recipe is even better!

This was a nice change to our normal meatloaf (which is also delicious, just has more savory flavors). Just as other reviewers, I had to substitute a couple ingredients since I was out. I used ground turkey instead of beef, oatmeal instead of saltines. It was quick, easy ans SO tasty. My husband, who said he wasn't really hungry ended up going back for seconds. Heated up the next day for lunch, it was still so yummy.

So easy, fast (to prep) and delicious! I used ground turkey instead and added hot sauce to the ketchup. Also, I put the ketchup and brown sugar on top of the loaf. Oh, and I used bread crumbs instead of crackers, but only because that's what I had on hand and it was easier than crushing crackers. This recipe is also awesome because it uses ingredients that you would have in your kitchen most of the time.

My ma-in-law does this without the ginger. I suggest leaving out the sugar (replace the ketchup with home made if you have time - store bought is at least a third sugar), adding worcestershire, quadrupling the amount of pepper, doubling the onion, and you don't need that much milk - none if you use not-so lean beef. As long as the beef you are using comes from a half-way tasty cow, you will find that this is delicious. I give it one star because my mother-in-law likes it, but it baffles me. The bottom line is that if your meatloaf is any good, that much sugar will ruin it. If it isn't, you don't want it anyway.

Great flavor and easy to make with basic household ingredients. My kids and dinner guests loved this! I'd recommend doing half of the brown sugar and ketchup (1/4 c each) on the bottom of the pan and the remainder as a glaze on top. I added a Tbsp of Worcescershire to the glaze on top and it added a nice kick without being overpowering. I also used bread crumbs instead of saltines and it turned out really tasty!

This is okay...My family likes the more traditional meatloaf better. Oh I think the sauce needs to be on top or you wont get much of the flavor:)

We couldn't stop eating this, the whole meatloaf was gone in one family meal. Usually we have a few slices left over for sandwiches the next day but not in this case.

I made this for my family Halloween dinner party. I usually don't use a new recipe for dinner parties for the obvious reason of a possible disaster happening. Well I had a feeling this one would be a good so I took a chance. I used 2lbs of ground turkey and 1lb of lean ground beef. So I doubled the recipe and added Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture and to the glaze. I also put the glaze on top of the loaf instead of the bottom. I cooked it for 1hr 45mins and it turned out GREAT! Everyone loved it and wants the recipe!!!

Everybody seems to love it, so I tried it, but it wasn't for me. I'm more of a hamburger consistency meatloaf lover (like mama used to make), and this was not it. I mixed just enough to blend the ingredients, but it was smooth, like I over did it... I'm used to BBQ sauce on meatloaf, and I wish I would've gone with my gut and did it, because the brown sugar & ketchup sauce was weak.

I have made this before but I guess I never reviewed it. My review is form this time. I made it with 93% Ground Beef for less fat. I also cooked it in a meatloaf pan and i was surprised to see almost no fat underneath (i guess since it was so low in fat in general). Anyway, I added 1 heaping Tbs. of minced garlic to the mix and used Ritz instead of saltines. Since my pan allowed dripping to go underneath (not sit under the meat), I put the sauce on top (which I added some Worcestershire sauce too as recommended). It was done in 50 minutes. I love the meat with the sauce but my only issue is, as is, the bottom is plain meatloaf and the top had the glaze... so if I baked it NOT in a meatloaf pan, I would put half on the bottom and half on top of the glaze. Since I used the pan, next time I might mix half into the mix itself and then put the rest on top... but I do love it!
