I used a scant tablesoon of red pepper flakes instead of the real red pepper and my husband said this was the best soup EVER! That gave it just the right amount of 'kick' !!

I made this whole recipe for my son and husband to eat while I was working the weekend and considering they ate the entire pot all by themselves in less than a day, it must be a hit. They both enjoyed this and would like me to fix it again. I only used half the red pepper since I was using pimento and only had that much in the jar. Next time I will use the entire amount. I used an inexpensive Texas chenin blanc in this. I used regular brown rice and just cooked til it was done. I did simmer this soup about an hour before letting it cool to refrigerate for my guys' meals. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe with us!

Great recipe! Used leftover turkey. Didn't have instant brown rice, so cooked brown rice separately and added at the end. Added some extra veggies (zucchini and frozen mix) and a couple tablespoons of lemon juice as recommended by another reviewer.

This soup had the best flavor! I changed very little of the recipe and that is rare for me. I did not use the red pepper, but instead added a can of diced tomatoes and cut up some fresh carrots. The tomatoes gave a great flavor to the soup. I also did not have thyme, so substituted 1/2 oregano and 1/2 basil. It turned out great. Also, I used left over turkey from Thanksgiving that was in the freezer. Perfect! Thanks for sharing this recipe. I will definitely make again.

Very nice & hearty soup. I cooked down the turkey carcass I had frozen at the holidays with some onion, carrot and celery. Added more veggies when I put in the rice after discarding the bones and chopping up the reserved meat. Also added a little poultry seasoning, some dried parsley and a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice. I got that idea from another turkey soup recipe on the site. We enjoyed the leftovers even more than the original!

This was a good soup and easy to vary according to your needs. I forgot the celery, so I added some carrots and corn kernels instead. I also used chicken stock instead of broth, and added paprika and cayenne pepper. Great for a chilly fall day!

I made this for my family and it wasn't very good. It's not hearty as far as serving for a meal and it was very unflavorful. I wouldn't make it again.

This is delicious! I have been making a lot of soups and this was one of our favorites. I used leftover turkey breast and leftover spanish rice. I added a can of petite diced tomatoes with juice. Excellent. Thanks for the post.
