Brookies (Fudgy Brownie Cookies)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Stir brownie mix, oil, egg, and water together in a bowl until dough is thick and begins to pull away from sides of the bowl. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until just set in the center, 8 to 10 minutes.
  4. Cool brookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes; transfer to a wire rack. Sift confectioners' sugar over brookies and cool for 5 minutes more. Gently place 1 chocolate kiss in the center of each brookie.

  • Cook's Note:
  • Any variety of Hershey's Kiss® can be used, but the "Hugs" variety looks great on these.
  • Heat from brookie will melt kiss just slightly, allowing it to stick while retaining its shape.

This recipe was fast, easy, and attractive, and the cookies were popular with our youth group!I used a small cookie scoop and got 36 2 1/2" diameter cookies. I didn't dust them with powdered sugar, just topped them with Hershey Hugs. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that it is a little overly sweet to me, and I have a sweet tooth. It's possible a different brand of brownie mix might tone that down a little, but I'm not sure? Be sure to transfer the cookies to a plate before gently topping with the Kisses; they'll still be warm enough that it's easy to push through the bottom of the cookie if they're still on the cooling rack.
