Very tasty dinner! I do recommend mixing the sour cream in with the meat mixture (as one person suggested). Although the picture is lovely, sour cream doesn't spread well and ends up being clumpy. When it cooks it gets a weird texture, too. Next time I will mix it in the meat prior to cooking. I followed Jennelle D's spice options, and used whole wheat tortillas. I lined the pan with foil and used a little oil spray - it didn't stick, but the tortillas on the bottom were a little rubbery the first night. Leftovers were awesome! This recipe is a keeper!

This is one of the best recipes that I have found on allrecipes.com. I have made it for several special occasions, but mostly just for my husband. He loves it, and I do too. I substitute the sour cream for fat free sour cream and you can tell any difference. Sometimes I like to use whole wheat tortillas just to get my husband to eat a little more healthier than what he thinks. He still loves it and would eat it everyday if he could (he calls it "Mexican Pie," and it has caught on with others that have eaten it. Also, I make a brown rice with salsa/picante sauce added. It is a great meal for you, your family, and guests.

This was very good! I substituted ground turkey breast instead of hamburger meat. I topped it off with shredded lettuce and tomatoes. Yummy!

This was so tastey! My husband and I both loved it! We did substitute ground turkey for the ground beef and it was awesome! It was fairly easy to prepare/ cook as well which is definitely a plus!

This was very easy and very good. The whole family enjoyed it. *Update 8/30/09* After making this again, I'm going to drop my rating to 4 stars. It is good and I will make it occasionally, but I think we would all like it better without beans.

I liked that the bottom tortilla was crunchy hard to cut into but not enough to deter me away from it. The family loved it, my son had seconds which is rare. The flavor was very good! I will be making this over and over Im sure!

I did like others said and put enchilada sauce on the bottom of the casserole dish...and threw the rest in with the the layers. Won't mix it with the layers next time-made it so that the layers won't stick together-but the taste was AWESOME!! Very easy to make! My husband loved it and I will be making this again!!

This was incredible! I followed the directions exactly with the exception of using my own homemade Italian dressing and homemade taco seasoning. Even my picky eater ate it! This will definitely make its way into our regular rotation. Next time I will make it in the crockpot - I don't think it will change it much except the cheese won't be browned.

Not my cup of tea but my husband liked it. A bit too meaty and saucy with not enough tortillas. I don't know if I will make again

Great recipe! I followed this recipe with little to no alterations and it turned out good. I did add lettuce, tomato, and guacamole to the top. I would make it again.

This really turned out great and as much as I wanted to keep it true to the recipe, I found that I had to improvise due to other reviews and the fact that I used a package of ground turkey which was more than a pound of meat. So, I used 1/2 of a 14 oz can of enchilada sauce I had on hand in the bottom of the casserole dish before adding the tortillas. I quartered the tortillas and then made sure that the corners on the torillas went into the corners of the dish. Quartering them allowed more even coverage in each layer - just overlap them a little and it works great. I added a can of diced tomatoes with onion and garlic to the meat mixture to make sure it wasn't going to be dry. Rather than using taco seasoning I used 1 Tbs chili powder, 1/2 Tbs cumin, and then a little less than 1/2 Tbs salt and some ground pepper. I added the remaining canned enchilada sauce to the meat mixture and used a 16 oz bag of reduced fat cheese between the first and second layers. I then added a little bit of pepper jack cheese on top of the top layer of cheese. It turned out great and we did serve it with additional sour cream, some diced olives and some romaine lettuce.

Very good and very easy. Clean up is a breeze because you've only dirtied a skillet. I put some salsa in the dish before adding the tortillas as ElizabethJ suggested. Good tip. The tortillas didn't stick. I made this as written except for adding sliced black olives. Yum. My husband loved this. Can't wait for leftovers; I know they will reheat nicely. I also added some lettuce and chopped tomatoes when serving as AR had suggested.
