This recipe was easy to follow and tasted great. My husband even liked them and he's from NY! The only change I made was the topping, I used 1 tbs each of poppy, sesame, and a garlic and onion blend. That mixture made an amazing everything bagel. I made 9 of these like the recipe stated and they were the perfect size for me!

I don't think I'll ever be buying bagels ever again! I've made 2 batches so far (1 cheese and one with sea salt) and my family is in love! I add baking soda when I boil them to help give them a nice texture. I would suggest placing foil on your baking sheet though, because they're very hard to get off otherwise. Awesome recipe!

Never made bagels before. Lot's of work but oh so worth it. I put dried onion and dried parsley in the dough and then followed the rest of the directions and sprinkled more dried onion on the egg washed bagels.

These are simple and delicious! I did one batch in the machine and one batch with the Kitchen Aid. Both came out great. I threw in raisins and cinammon. I sprinkled with a cinn. brown sugar mix before baking. Then about 15 minutes before done, I spread them with the same mixture that had been mixed with butter. That made a gooey, yummy topping. Tasted like cinn. rolls!

Excellent! My son said if I sprinkled salt on top, they would taste like mall pretzels.

Seriously??? These are so insanely good! I don't know how or why I hadn't tried this before! I made 8 healthy sized bagels from the recipe. 5 cinnamon raisin and 3 rosemary olive oil. This is a winner!

For bread machine bagels, these really are great. Best eaten when still warm, but still ok when heated in a toaster oven later. I never could get my bagels to look pretty and smooth like you find at a bagel shop, but the taste was more important to me anyway.

These were AWESOME. I'm making more tonight. I followed someone's advice and only made six, but they turned out too big to just be one serving size- this time I will stick with 9. I did add two tablespoons of vital wheat gluten. I topped with kosher salt... Tonight I'm going to try some cinnamon crunch bagels. Other than the vital wheat gluten though, I didn't make any changes and they turned out beautifully. They looked and tasted professional!

Turned out great! I don't care for poppy seeds so I tossed in some dried cranberries during the 'add-ins' cycle of the bread machine. Even the hubby loved them!

Great recipe! I didn't have cornmeal, so I put the bagels on parchment paper with no problems. I also added a packet of italian seasonings and fresh chives and herbs to the ingredients. Delicious!

Absolutely wonderful taste. I made three different batches. Garlic, Onion and a cinnamon raisin. I let them rise for about an hour before the boiling water bath. They remind me so much of the Panera bread bagels.

Made these by hand (not bread machine), didn't use cornmeal (didn't have any), and didn't do the egg wash. This was my first attempt at bagels and they turned out really good.

pretty darn heavy bagels, I was hoping they would be a bit lighter. I may make them again. I sprinkled parmesean cheese on half of the bagels and then mixed cinnamon sugar and raisens in the other half. The kids loved them, but I felt they were too dense.

I don't own a bread machine so i worked the dough with my hands. Let the dough rise for an hour after kneading, and another hour after forming the bagels. Sprinkled with onion flakes. Thanks for the recipe!

EXCELLENT! I used my stand mixer, let the dough rise, punched down and rise again, then followed the recipe exactly. These are wonderfulm, and i can't wait to experiment and add cheese and other flavoring to other batches.

This is a truly great recipe. I made these today with my kids and it was a fun project for us. I had never made bagels before and was unsure if they would be good the first time around. They were awesome! We used 1 1/8 cups of water, and we also brushed them with olive oil instead of egg. Our toppings were all different. We used lawry's seasoning salt, cavendars seasoning, and one with rosemary, sea salt and pepper that was our favorite! We had so much fun we hope to make this a weekend activity. I don't think we could buy a bag of store bought bagels again!

These bagels were fairly easy to make, if you have alot of time. I added some gluten to make them more chewy. They tasted like Sara Lee Bagels. But I agree with another review on making bagels, I think I'll stick to buying them at the market.
