Ingredients

  • 10 white dinner rolls
  • 2 cups lukewarm milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup diced cooked ham
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg

Directions

  1. Slice rolls finely and soak in milk, until moist but not soggy.
  2. Melt butter in a small skillet and saute ham with onion and parsley.
  3. Fill a large saucepan with salted water and bring to a boil. Meanwhile, add eggs, salt, pepper and nutmeg to bread/milk mixture and combine with ham/onion saute. Mix well and shape into dumplings.
  4. Cook in salted water for 20 minutes and serve immediately.
