If I could give this recipe a minus I would. Have tried it twice once with proofing the yeast and once without. Both times I have ended up with flat, dense, horrible bread.

This would make a very good basic dinner roll recipe and we did enjoy it. As others said though, it was quite soft when trying to serve as a bread bowl. I made some thick cheddar broccoli soup so leakage wasn't an issue. These are great for 'stew' or 'chowder' styles. Anything that is actual soup though would have soaked through. You'll enjoy the taste, just plan the right soup accordingly.

This bread was delicious but I did make a few tweak...tossed in some rosemary and a little garlic powder while making the dough to give it a little more flavor and instead of coating the bottom of the pan with cornmeal(which I don't like) I did a light coating of flour. Everyone loved it. Will definitely be making this one again

I am giving it 5 stars for taste and ease. I found dividing into 8 balls made more like large rolls instead of bowls. Will make again but only divide by 4.

I used this recipe to make 300 bread bowls for my neices wedding reception! Everybody loved them! I stayed true to recipe, except I got 10 bowls out of each batch, they were the perfect size. At Christmas I made them larger and put them in gift baskets along with other goodies.They have a shelf life of about 7 days.
