These were quite good. I didn't have any worcestershire sauce & it did taste like it might be missing something?? I also cooked in the crockpot. Still I would rather make something like this then buy it. I will make these again :)

Excellent! I did add less bacon, but other than that, I didn't change anything. I cooked them in the crockpot on high for 4-5 hours.

My husband wants me to keep looking for a recipe for baked beans like his mother use to make. These turned out to mushy and the flavor was good but not great.

This must be the best baked beans ever! Quit using the canned varieties; they don't hold a candle compared to this. I used my slow cooker instead of the oven, lining it with foil for easy cleanup. My one and only addition was adding two jalapeno peppers to one of the two batches I made for people who liked their beans with a kick!

I used this recipe to break in my new bean pot on Memorial Day, and couldn't have asked for a better maiden voyage. This is how baked beans are supposed to taste! Will make again often.

after getting home around six to find all we had to eat was a couple of metts, i wanted to make baked beans, but didn't even have any canned. decided to improvise on this recipe since i didn't have the 5+ hours called for. i made the sauce pretty much as is, except i didn't have molasses so i used dark corn syrup (!) and i cut the salt in half (could have used even less). added a piece of bacon and one slice of onion, chopped. after it simmered for about 10 minutes, i added a can of drained great northern beans to the pot and let it cook 10 minutes more. i had one portion, my husband ate the rest - he loved them! not too shabby for on the fly.

I used steak sauce instead of worcesteshire sauce & added extra molasses for a more traditional flavor...Got rave reviews from my guinea pigs!

The beans were tasty, but too much trouble since they taste pretty much the same as canned beans. There was way too much bacon. If I made them again I would cut back to 1/4 pound. Also, cooking beans till tender before assembling, then cooking till tender in the oven too, doesn't make sense. After soaking overnight, I cooked the beans half an hour and that was plenty. I also reduced the oven temperature to 250 degrees, and baked for 7 hours.

These were really good but I probably won't ever make the effort to do it again. Too much time involved and no better than the kind in a can. I do think this had way too much onion flavor.

These baked beans are excellent! I didn't have navy beans, so I used pinto beans.I soaked the beans overnight & put them in a crockpot, cooked on high for 7 hrs, then on low for 3 hrs. Added some maple syrup. Served them with Baby Back Pork ribs. My husband just raved about the excellent taste on both.

I made this successfully in the crock pot. I soaked the beans overnight, drained them, skipped the simmer-for-2-hours step, and followed the rest of the recipe using the crock pot. I cooked it on low for 20 hours, and did have to add water periodically. AWESOME. thanks you!

This was good, but felt it was missing something or needed more flavor. At the same time this might have been my fault since I added smoked sausage slices instead of the bacon (to turn it more into a main meal instead of side dish). Once I doubled the amount of ketchup, dry mustard, and brown sugar it was pretty darn good. Also added some smokey tobasco.

This is my new favorite baked bean recipe. Only thing I changed out was the bacon - my husband's a vegetarian - so I substituted with a little canola oil and liquid hickory smoke, which provided the flavor and texture bacon would have added. Very kid friendly recipe.

Good recipe. I sometimes leave out the bacon (or cut way back) when I'm feeling guilty about nitrates.

Very yummy. I baked them all day in a crock pot on high instead of the oven. That way I could plug it in on the patio and not heat up my house on a hot summer day and still enjoy homemade beans at our bbq!
