Thats some good chili! I subbed the bacon bits for half a pound of chopped cooked bacon, sautee'd the veggies in the bacon drippings, and added 4 minced Jolokia (Ghost)peppers and a can of corn kernels to the mix. Unreal delicious. THANK YOU

This went over so well at last weeks football game! It only took an hour to prepare and I let it simmer for about 4 hours then cool over night then re-simmer for another 3 hours or so and it was delicious! I substituted 3.5 lbs. of ground chuck and 1.5 lbs. of sausage in exchange for the beans. I also just used 2 12 oz. cans of beer instead of 1. It was great!

sooo good!! accidentally left out the tomato paste but it was still so good....and of course i added more and more fresh garlic! My husband said it wasn't so good the next day as the day of. But maybe its because he had beer with it the day i made it :)

Delicious and hearty chili recipe! It called for a lot of things I already had on hand, but it was still a little pricey to prepare. We used ground turkey and it was still scrumptious! Don't forget that you can adjust ingredients to suit your own taste, it is chili after all. Also, I think the negative reviews had to be from people who didn't let it cook long enough. There is a HUGE difference between chili that has cooked for 2 hours, and chili that has been cooked for 6-8 hours. I used an entire bottle of beer and no beef bullion (bc I didn't have any), skipped the paprika, added a little sriracha, jalapenos, habaneros and honey. WONDERFUL recipe!

The only change I made was I used chili beans in medium sauce instead of spicy sauce. Turned out great! It may be a little too spicy for children!

I think this turned out really well! It is a long list of ingredients, but I put the spices together the day before just to save time and energy. I'm also a fan of mise en place, so I gathered EVERYTHING together before getting started so as to not have to fall over a cat or dog while scurrying around. Changes include: 1) Used 3 cans of plain old red kidney beans, drained and rinsed (don't like tinny flavor). 2) Added red pepper flakes to make up for lack of "spicy sauce" in beans. 3) No bacon 4) No bouillon 5) Full bottle of beer (corsenbach) 6) Saute onion separately in small skillet. 6.5) Softened peppers and celery, then added meat to brown. 7) Moved meat mixture and everything else to slow cooker and cooked on low for about 6 hours. Awesome!

Everyone will ask you for your recipe if you make this! It's even better the next day. I love to make this with "Absolute Mexican Corn Bread" from this site.

This chili is EXCELLENT. I thought italian sausage in chili sounded bizarre, so I did not use it. However, once all the flavor came together I can see it being excellent. This is a VERY unique chili, very good though. The changes I made were a bit more onion and pepper. Fresh diced tomato rather than canned. More fresh garlic, used about 6 cloves. Fresh bacon, used a whole package to compensate for not using sausage. Used alot more seasoning, almost doubled everything, bunch of cayenne pepper too, also a packet of goya sazon. Used one cup of Heineken rather than a half cup. And I fried up the veggies using some of the bacon grease. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING CHILI!!! Writing the review now as it's been simmering 90minutes, so has more to go, as is at this moment it's just incredible. 5 stars and then some.

Very disappointing. I thought I would change up my regular chili and make this one. DH didn't like it and asked where the regular chili I make was. He always likes my cooking but asked for me not to make this again. Big let down for all the work I put in.

Obviously I'm not alone, this was just FANTASTIC. I used ground turkey even and it was still delicious. I added some crushed red pepper for extra spice, but tit was perfect as is.

Great Chili! I will probably use this recipe when I enter a chili cook off later this fall. My folks thought it was a bit spicy, but that is expected with them. The wife likes to put sour cream in it when served. I only added one ingredient not mentioned in the recipe, which was 2-3 tablespoons of dark brown sugar. Only because I really like the contradicting sweet/spicy flavors.

Without any alterations this chili is amazing! And when they say it's better the next day, it is! This is a great chili to make at home or bring to parties. I have officially stopped looking for "the best" chili recipe, because this is it!

I changed this recipe some with the veggies I used, canned beans (used chili and kidney) and used turkey and johnsons bratwurst, but followed the spices per the recipe and I loved it. I make a lot of chili and am pretty particular about the taste of my chili, this one's a keeper and maybe the replacement of my "go to chili"!

I don't like chili - but I LOVE this chili! I omitted the celery and the chili peppers, and it was still plenty warm. Serves an army, with leftovers.

Goood chili! okay,I made some changes,I did beef but didn't have any italian sausage so I used ground pork. Only chili peppers I had was serrano and jalepeno so I used serrano, didn't put in hot sauce, didn't want to make it toooo spicy, had orange bell pepper instead and didn't put in any sugar, and it was still GOOD! You try it,you will like it.
