I added cauliflower to this recipe as well. I took it to an event at our church, I got many compliments on it, and when I was walking by one of the tables I heard one guy say, "whoever made this brocolli salad rocks!" Will definately make this salad again, but may leave out some of the onion next time, It was slightly overpowering for me, althoug everyone else seemed to like it.

My new favorite picnic salad! I loved the sweet dressing and the mixture of textures and flavors. It was a hit with all and can't wait to make it again!

This salad was GREAT! I made it as stated (Except a little less cheese and mayo) and it was fabulous...I took it to the park for my sons birthday party. I would recommend eating it as soon as the bacon is crumbled in it because if you leave it in the refrigerator overnight (as I did because I made a few other salads), the bacon is soggy and it takes away from the fabulousness of the salad. I also put craisens in the leftover salad and loved it.

I love this recipe! Everyone I have made it for raves about it. Sometimes I add Craisins, if I have them. I especially like to make it on hot summer days. It makes a substantial lunch without feeling heavy. I would recommend giving it a try!

AWESOME!! LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!! I've had this broccoli salad at a few get-togethers before and was so impressed. Anyway, sort the ratings by most helpful and use the suggestions by the most helpful rating. It's GREAT! Except...I used fancy shredded cheese, and I think it's great. Also, I used YOGURT instead of MAYO! (with a couple tablespoons of miracle whip for flavor). GREAT GREAT GREAT!!! THANKS!

I made this for my parents and my dad is the fusiest eater ever! He ate it up and had a bit more. If it passes my dad's plate it's a 5 star recipe. Note- I didn't measure exactly I used this recipe as a guideline as what recipes are about except for baking. Thanks!

Great basis to start with but made changes based on other reviews. I use 3 stalks of brocolli, a whole package of bacon, increased mayo as suggested, 3 splashes red wine vinager, no lemon juice, only 1 tsp. pepper, about 1/3 cup sugar. I also threw in a handfull of sliced almonds. I guess I should write my own recipe because I dilike when others do this but I want to give the credit to this submitter. I took it to my sons scout dinner and everyone LOVED it. thanks.

love this recipe any day of the week. 2 teaspoons of black pepper makes it very very peppery though so i reduced this to 1/2 tsp and followed the rest of the recipe to the tee.

My family really loves this salad. I add sunflower seeds and golden raisins for the best flavor/ texture combination.

I used this as a starter. Added Freshly Fried Bacon bits, chopped pecans, and a pinch of celery seed. Fantastic! Used for a work pot-luck lunch, and everyone enjoyed!

I love this recipe but gave it 4 stars because I changed a few things. I used half mayo and half plain yogurt, and instead of red wine vinegar used about 1.5 T white wine vinegar and 2.5 T apple cider vinegar (because I didn't have any more white wine vin, but I like it this way!). I also decreased the pepper as others said, used vidalia onion, about 1 c cheddar and omitted the bacon because I'm a vegetarian. This was a great base recipe and absolutely delicious with the changes I made - I also added Craisins, which were delish!

YUM! A little less vinegar for me. Raisins add the sweetness that I like. Cashews for crunch. Thanks!

This is a favorite of ours. I have been making this recipe for years. I do use less red onion and no sunflower seeds. I have added fresh diced tomatoes when they are ripe in my garden. Have handed out this recipe to family members across the US.

I prepared this salad for a Memorial Day BBQ, and it was a big hit with my family. The bowl was scraped clean. Even my southern grandmother, who only eats vegetables cooked in bacon fat, LOVED this dish.
