Blue Cheese Garlic Bread

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 4 ounces crumbled blue cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon snipped chives
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 (1 pound) loaf unsliced French bread

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a small bowl, combine the first five ingredients. Cut bread into 1-in. thick slices, but not all the way through, leaving slices attached at the bottom. Spread cheese mixture between slices. Wrap loaf in a large piece of heavy -duty foil (about 28-in. x 18-in.). Fold foil around bread and seal tightly. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until heated through. Serve warm.

I really like this recipe. Easy and quick to make. And the Blue Cheese makes it seem more "high brow" somehow. I also made a batch with Mozzarella cheese. I woudn't do that again. Also, I substituted fresh garlic and that added a great touch.

OMG...I'd give this recipe 10 stars if I could! I substituted fresh roasted garlic instead of the power...that's a must! And I also added in a couple of dashes of white pepper. Next time I might even add a couple dashes of hot pepper sauce just because I like things with a kick! The topping got all bubbly and golden, it was delicious!!!

This was awesome! I stumbled (literally) across it and decided to give it a whirl with some homemade chili. It was a fantastic complement to dinner. Thank you! :)
