The dipping sauce is outstanding. Although my first ever blooming onion didn't turn out like the pictures on here, I will attempt to make it again!

Excellent. I did do the bloomin' part. Just stick to the petals and it is just as good and tasty. For the sauce I didn't haven any horseradish, so I left it out, it wasn't missed. Make sure you season up your flour really well. That's the flavor you are going to have.

My friend served this as an appetizer and when done we all wished for more. It was not greasy and the sauce had the right bite.

I cheated (like always) & tweaked a bit. Instead of individually using ketchup & horseradish (plus seasonings) I had some extra hot cocktail sauce that I used. I used the additive amount of horse radish/ketchup. I didn't add any more cayenne or other hot spice. However, I did add the oregano & other spices. We used it for fried mushrooms. Everyone *loved* it. The spice was a good kick & it was nice & creamy.

We've made this recipe 3 times in less than 3 weeks!! My family is just crazy abt this bloomin onion recipe and the Dippin sauce recipe is to die-for!! I ordered from ebay the " GREAT AMERICAN STEAKHOUSE ONION MACHINE" and it really does make beautiful onion bloomers!Very messy and lots of work - but the results is worth it!This recipe will work just as great with onion rings - so on lazy days, will just cut onion into rings and ditto with the rest of the recipe!

I only used the sauce for some frozen onion rings, but the sauce is spot on. It is really easy to adjust to different tastes too, as I ended up adding less horseradish to mine, and more horseradish and cayenne to my husband's. Tasty and zippy!

Great batter and the dip was good too. I ended up frying the onion petals seperated. I couldn't get my onion to hold together. I will use again and on other veggies.

I used the sauce with deep fried zucchini and it is just fabulous! Tastes even better than the restaurant sauce.

Wow! I've made this twice now...the first time substituting the onion w/ zucchini & yellow squash slices, and the result with absolutely fabulous! This is the first thing I made in my deep fryer, and without a doubt, this is the only coating & dipping sauce recipe that I'll use for all my veggie frying in the future.

Absolutely awesome recipe! I did not have the time nor the patience to make the blooming onion shape, neither did I want to get the deep fryer out and pour a ton of oil in it. I simply cut out onion rings and proceeded as mentioned in the recipe. The onion rings were hit! The sauce was very good, too. Just make sure you get the plain horseradish paste: I made the mistake of using the horseradish in vinegar paste and my first batch of dip got tossed. I went back to the store and got the plain kind and the result was simply perfect! I did not and would not change a thing!

This was very tasty and fairly easy to make, I used a deep fryer and was able to immerse the whole onion. The sauce was really good as well, will make it again.

Terrific! I only used the dipping sauce part of this recipe to go with "Old Fashioned Onion Rings" from this site. This sauce is just AWESOME.

This recipe is awesome. We tried to cut the onion to look like the bloom and it was a complete failure so next time we will cut it in pieces instead. Even though it didn't look good, it tasted great.

This is for the sauce only. Very good and close to what you get at the restaurants. I will add a little more horseradish next time, wasn't hot enough for me.
