Ingredients

  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans
  • 1 (15.5 ounce) can black-eyed peas
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon prepared brown mustard
  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce, or to taste

Directions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the black beans and black-eyed peas with their juices. Season with garlic powder, cumin, ginger, salt, onion flakes, mustard, and hot pepper sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for about 20 minutes to combine the flavors.
