This is the first pie I have made and it turned out perfect. I used the Basic Flaky Pie Crust recipe from this site with perfect results.

We have wild blackberries that grow in our backyard and my son loves to pick them for me. After a few weeks of this I had an abundance of blackberries! This was the perfect recipe. So tasty. Nothing but great reviews from us!! Thanks.

Incredibly tasty and very simple. We added 1/4 cup sugar to the filling as suggested by other reviewers and it still had a wonderful sweet/tart balance. Thanks Michelle!

This pie was truly simple. By itself I thought it tasted a little floury but with vanilla ice cream it was perfect!

This was pretty good considering that I'm not a blackberry fan. My fiance loves blackberries and said this could have used more sugar. I did use the tip of brushing egg on the bottom of the crust (which worked well) though I would recomend brushing the top with milk. Thanks Michelle

I am somewhat of a fussy pie baker and I loved this recipe! The only things I did differently were that I used 5 pints of large berries, I also brushed the bottom crust with a little beaten egg, squeezed a little lemon juice over the berries and dotted with butter before putting the top crust on. I brushed the top crust with some of the beaten egg and sprinkled sugar over it. It was delicious and I agree, serve this with a little vanilla ice-cream. I've made this pie about 5 times this summer and received rave reviews each time. One more tip ~ make sure that you combine the berries with the sugar and flour well until you no longer see any "white" coating on the berries.

I just made and ate a piece of the pie. It was somewhat disappointing to me because the flour mixed with blackberry took over the natural blackberry taste. I regreted using all the good fresh berries I had for the pie. I would use less flour next time and more sugar for inside.

5 plus ...I made this for a family get together there was none left. I used frozen berries and a plisbury frig. crust and it still was great. Im sure if I used fresh it would have been that much better!!

This recipe was absolutely WONDERFUL! I used the Baker's Secret pie crust recipe (which is the best pie crust i have ever tasted) and instead of the half cup of flour for the pie filling used 1/4 cup tapioca. I also brushed the bottom crust with egg to prevent it from becoming soggy. Instead of brushing the top crust with milk i used the left over egg and sprinkled it with sugar! It was so beautiful but even more tasty! Thanks for the great recipe!

this pie came out ALMOST perfect! i have always hated pie crusts and i now know why - it's the shortening. butter makes all of the difference in the crust. the milk and sugar on top was a great technique that made the pie look fantastic. i personally wouldn't describe the bottom crust as "soggy" so much as "soft" and my family and i liked it! crispy on top and soft on the inside. i would like to experiment with adding tapioca flour instead of baking flour to the berries - the filling was a touch gummy even using less flour. but still the best pie i've ever had - you can't go wrong with this simple, natural, wholesome recipe - the way it should be!

This turned out wonderful. The only thing I altered was the amount of milk and sugar I used on the top of the crust. I thought it was perfect using about half of both of the original measurments. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly and was so pleased. I picked fresh blackberries from my blackberry bush, and used a pillsbury refrigerated crust. It was sooo good!

Well, probably usually this deserves a five, but I used fresh, early season blackberries which tend to be pretty sour. The consistency of the pie turned out great, and nothing about the blackberry flavor was removed or masked. Some of the boys, however, thought it was too sour. I'd definitely keep trying with this one but udjust the sugar if the blackberries are sour.

Great alternative to cobbler. I also brushed bottom crust with egg and added butter pats to top. Used refrigerated pie dough and turned out great! Not too sweet, true berry taste came through. A keeper....
