Pat Patty of Spring, Texas sent the recipe for this down-home dessert that's bursting with berry flavor. Fat-free yogurt and egg whites in the biscuit topping make the classic favorite a little lighter.

My grandmother made this cobbler when I was a little girl I can still remember the fun we had first picking blackberries together in the hills. Blackberries are my favorite filling, but this cobbler can also be made with apples.

'This is a very good dessert that's easy to make and calls for only a few ingredients,' says June Cunningham of Carsonville, Michigan. Refrigerated biscuits form the golden toping over a combination of ruby-red cherry pie filling and frozen blackberries.

This recipe is pretty straightforward: blackberries, flour, sugar and lemon juice are combined and piled into a pastry shell. On go a few pats of butter and the top crust, and 45 minutes later, you 're in pie heaven.

We 'd like blackberry pie for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It 's so good, and the tapioca flour in this one makes the blackberries thick and luscious. The cinnamon adds a bit of spice, and the milk and sugar brushed on the top curst makes the pie sparkle when it 's pulled from the oven.

Simply place blackberries in a bowl and stir in a bit of flour, lots of sugar and a shake of cinnamon. Pour the mixture into a homemade pastry shell and add a dash of lemon juice and a bit of butter. Then slip on the top crust and bake in the oven until golden. Let the pie cool and serve it with scoops of vanilla ice cream.

This is a simple pie to make with amazing results. There is nothing quite like a blackberry pie warm from the oven. Except perhaps a slice of blackberry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting deliciously.
