For my dad's Father's Day meal, his desert choice was Blackberry Cobbler. I have NEVER in my life made cobbler but I was ready for the challenge. This recipe was awesome! We ate it about 30 minutes after it came out of the oven so it was warm. We topped it with vanilla ice cream (Blue Bell) and it was DELICIOUS! I used frozen blackberries that I let thaw in the bag on my counter for a few hours. I wouldn't change a thing about this recipe!

I am definitely new to the cooking business. I am a newlywed who hasn't had much experience in the kitchen, but when I made this cobbler for our Memorial Day cookout, my dad thought it was my great-grandmother's recipe. He swore up and down that it was her cobbler. When I told him I took it off of the internet, he was surprised. Everybody dipped in on it, and to my surprise, was completely gone in less than 20 minutes. I plan on making this same cobbler to take to my grandma, whom I am certain will love every bit of it! Excellent recipe!

Yep, this was a GREAT recipe... and I've eaten many blackberry cobblers in my day. I will admit, I forgot to modify my flour to "self rising" but realized it too late and it still came out great. I will try sub'ing canned biscuit dough next time to save on prep time.

This was a wonderful easy recipe. I felt like it needed more milk in the dough to make it handle better.

This is the recipe I always use for blackberry cobbler. Pouring over the sugar syrup is the key to a good cobbler. Like another reviewer, I don't bother rolling it out, but that's partly because I substitute 3-4 teaspoons of canola oil for the butter to cut down on the fat content. It works fine; just use enough oil to form dry crumbs, then proceed as written. But the dough does come out soft and sticky enough that it's too much trouble to try to roll it out. So I don't. The cobbler comes out fantastic anyway. For special occasions I use butter and roll it out for a prettier dish.

I made this recipe exactly as directed. Holy moly, it was sooooooooooooo good. My grandmother and I used to pick blackberries too for cobbler. My grandma has since passed and wow this reminds me of her. I put the cobbler in a bowl while warm and add milk, sounds weird but just try it. It is just fabulous!!!!

At first I thought the preparation was strange, but decided to follow the recipe exactly as written. It was absolutely scrumptious! The crust was really good and I thought it was super-easy to make. My husband REALLY loved it and sad to make sure I don't lose the recipe!

My husband went crazy for this cobbler. This is a fabulous recipe - with a few minor changes. I used half and half instead of the milk and like previous reviews, I did not roll the dough. I layed down half the dough, sprinkled cinnamon sugar, then berries then the rest of the dough and more cinnamon sugar. I served it warm with Bluebell Vanilla Icecream..yum!!! I will definitely be making this again soon.

YUMMY! I made this last year for the 4th of july and 2 pans were gone in less than an hour! I did take the note on switching out milk for heavy whipping cream, which was great, and then also I substituted half the white sugar with brown. I added 2 tsp of vanilla and used 1/3 water 2/3 berry juice for the boiled mixture....SO good!

Great recipe! We are loaded with wild blackberries in the summer, and I make these about twice a week while they are in season, and try to put up enough to have a few from frozen berries, also.

made it for my officemate for his birthday (he loves blackberries). he loved it and ate it all himself in a day or two. i got a taste and thought it had too much butter and would do without the sugar on top. i prefer more blackberries to dough.

Okay, so I have to say that this recipe is delicious! However, I think we could use some hints and tips on how to successfully "Jelly Roll" The thing to prepare for slicing. I personally rolled the dough out onto a sheet of wax paper so that as I was rolling it the wax paper supported the dough. Also, if you have huge blackberries like I did, I find it best to mash them a little bit so they stay in place and don't destroy the crust. Otherwise, this recipe is top notch in my book.

I just made this tonight and it was wonderful! I prepared exactly as wriiten except for 3 minor things. I just sprinkled the cinnamon without measuring and then brushed the dough with some of the melted butter, I though that would help the dough adhear during the rolling process. Also I was concerned about the tartness of my berries so as not to change the recipe I just let the cobbler set after I poured the sugar water for about 30 minutes. I baked for about 1hour because it seemed a little sloshy at 45 min. The berries were a great texture and the crust crispy on the top and still flack in the center. Also I a so glad that I read a review that said it looked like a big mess when it went into the oven... or elso I would have thought I messed it up. I cannot wait to try with other fruits.

This was great, but not quite 5 stars. I thought it was a bit on the dry side; next time I'm going to add a bit of milk. Everyone else that tried it thought it was amazing though!
