Black Walnut Balls

"A friend gave this to me because she knows I love black walnuts in anything. They are much like other Christmas cookies you make with pecans in them. But these are GREAT!!"

Original Recipe Yield 3 dozen
 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chopped black walnuts
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (170 degrees C).
  2. Blend together butter, flour, white sugar, salt, and vanilla. Add black walnuts and mix well.
  3. Shape into 1 inch balls. Bake for 25 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet. Remove from oven and let cool.
  4. Roll in powdered sugar. Store flat - not stacked on top of each other.
