i went to look for sour pitted cherries, and boy was I SUPER glad I did it!! I LOVE how the tartness cut through the sweetness of the cake, giving it an overall balanced flavor (sis found it too sour though, but I LOVE it)
oh yes, i didn't add any sugar to the cherries (don't like things too sweet), but did add the cornstarch - it caused the syrup to be very grainy and powdery (not sure if it's cos' i omitted the sugar) - so i dumped in more syrup to kindda 'wash it out'.
in future, i will just use the sour cherries fresh out of the bottle!
