This was good, but didn't blow me away. I always use frozen corn instead of canned- the soup was a little watery IMO. Very healthy, though. Might want to add refried beans like others if you like it thicker & maybe some more spice.

Wonderful, wonderful recipe! I have made it several times: once as directed, once with a small can of tomato paste, and once with 1 can tomato sauce. We definately like it best with the tomato paste. This gives a great tomato-y flavor without watering it down. It was a perfect recipe while we were doing a "Daniel Fast" (mostly veggies, fruit & water). Came out perfectly in a crock pot, and tasted great as leftovers. The best part is you can throw in all kinds of veggies to make it more substantial. I highly recommend!

This soup was great but I made a few changes to suit my personal taste. I browned 1 lb of spicy turkey sausage and added that to the soup. I also added mushrooms and 2 extra cans of black beans to make it more of a bean soup and less of a vegetable soup.

The soup had good flavor but I added some cayenne pepper as well. I also used an extra carrot and a few stalks of celery.

Absolutely delicious. I used chicken broth instead of vegetable broth. I also added more chili powder and cumin.

I made this recipe and changed a few things. I used only 2 cups of Vegetable stock and I used 3 cans of black beans (didn't drain) and added 1 can of refired black beans that had jalapeno added. Also, I omitted the corn and for the stewed tomatoes I instead used a can of tomatoes with green chilies. Served with sour cream, shredded cheese and sourdough bread. Everyone raved about the flavor!

Family loved this recipe even my picky 3 year old. I did add a can of refried black beans to help thicken and a can of green chiles for a little flare.

I made this and it was a HIT!!!!! :) I gave it to some meat eaters and they loved it. I added one 19oz can of refried black beans to make it thicker. This was an excellent recipe.

The soup was good. My family enjoyed it, but it still lacked a little something. I used chicken stock instead of vegetable, and a can of tomatoes that had olive oil and garlic added to it. My husband made a suggestion of adding some kind of sausage such as an andouielle, chorizo, linguica, or some other type of spicy sausage. So the next time I make it, I will take him up on it.

This was great with a few minor changes! I added 3 cloves of garlic, only used 3 cups of broth, and a 10oz can of diced tomatoes with chilis. The biggest change was adding 3 to 4 tablespoons of tomato paste to give it more of a hearty chili taste!

So good! I made another black bean soup on this site and it was terrible. So, I gave this one a try and was very happy. Has a great taste and is really easy. Nice soup for those nights you dont have a lot of time. I made Jalapeno cheese bread to serve along side of it, topped the soup with sour cream and cheese. My hubby loved it.

I changed this a bit to add more veggies. I used a bag of frozen peas and green beans. I also added a can of diced tomatoes. I thought it was very good, but my family absolutely loved it and has made me promise to make it once a month.

This soup is spicy and flavorful. My kids loved it! I used a 15 oz can of corn, rather than the 8 3/4 oz can prescribed in the recipe.

Not great... I think it may have needed meat. It doesn't stick well either, we were hungry again an hour later.
